Was Job's actions faith or Fear?

4 And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.

Job 3:25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

So you would say there is only one kind of fear and one can only be fearful or faithful, but not faithful with a slight fear as well...? I have never experienced life to be so black and white...

I think we need to realize there is natural faith and supernatural faith, that comes from the word of God.

The lord has always been black and white to me, but the understanding will take some diligence.

There are two kingdoms working on the earth

The kingdom of God and the kingdom of Darkness

There is either light or darkness spiritually speaking

You will find this pattern thruout the bible

There is no neutral ground with the lord.

Man is either with God or Satan, it is his choice.

Did you ever notice the lord never wanted to know other than him, but mankind made a choice to know Good and evil.

I do agree with PJ but only in a perfect world would we live without any fear.

it's impossible, and maybe this is where people get upset with you. You make statements about how things should be in a perfect world and realistically it's not like that at all.

Yes your right God doesnt want us to fear because that takes away His work on the cross and Yes we serve one or the other.

You cannot say that your without faults PJ but you accuse and bible thump everyone.

The only way you will win anyone is with love, not with the way you do things.

God is not impressed with anyones performance, we dont get into heaven because of works, remember?

He is concerned with our hearts. If we say we love God but hate our brother....we're useless to Him unless we can love others and express the Father to them.

God is nothing like our earthly father we do not have to IMPRESS Him, ever. It's relationship with us that God wants. I'm not picking on you or anyone else, but just like you, I want you to GET IT.

I never perform, nor do I try to impress anyone, I know what the love of God is, and one thing love always did was boldly address Satan.

If you will study the Gospels, you will notice the pattern in who always persecuted Jesus.

The ones that supposedly represented him persecuted him the most.

When I accepted the lord, I fell in love with the truth, and hated lies, Satan's words.

This post was not about arrogance or anything else it is the word of God, and the point is to expose Satan.

Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth,

I agree with you PJ, about God being all good and satan being all bad. This is rather a black and white thing.

But when we look over the theory of the bible into the world, do you see anybody that is wholly good? Even in the bible I cannot see anybody being all good, except Jesus who doesn't count, as He was not only man but also God.

So are all lost? Is Paul lost who confesses to do the bad things he wouldn't want to do?

In German theology (maybe also in American, I don't know) we speak about the "already and the not yet". God has already saved the world, but salvation has not yet come fully through. We are still affected by sin, we are still doing things wrong. We read about Peter making mistakes, Paul writes the same about himself etc etc...

So sure, in the end there will be the good and the bad, but meanwhile it is still a bit intermixed. I cannot claim I wouldn't be sinning though I do believe in the Lord. I don't like that fact about me still sinning, but I can only take one step at a time and I keep falling down then and again.

Talking about Job. The book of Job does not mention anywhere I knew of that Job would be suffering because of his fear, but the book does speak of God and satan making a deal to test Job, if he would nenounce the Lord in misery. This is what I read when I look at the bible and I do not see how I could look away from that and blind my eyes for some other doctrine that might sound nicer to my ears.

God bless you

I encourage you to read the book of Job.

You never heard me say anything not verifiable in the bible.

Job said:Job 3:25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

Phillip did not say that.Job 1:22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.

Job 7:20 I have sinned; what shall I do unto thee, O thou preserver of men? why hast thou set me as a mark against thee, so that I am a burden to myself?

@PhilipJohn

The verses you quote from the book of Job cannot be glued together the way you do. You have fully torn them out of context.

The book of Job is not at all about good vs evil. A kingdom of light vs a kingdom of darkness. God vs satan.

I wonder what makes you think that.

you brought up Job who didnt give in to the devils strategy to get him to curse God.

and I think you were trying to connect it with fear vs. faith

I dont know if that's a good connection or not.

I have something that will make us all take a deep breath and thank God for His mercy and grace. If we live by what you always share in these forums we will constantly be under condemnation and not measure up to God's standards.

Did Peter deny Christ out of fear? yes he did, 3 times, not to mention he didnt grasp what Jesus was teaching them the whole time until after He died. He turned out to address the crowds in Acts 2 when he preached at Pentecost and it STILL gives me goosebumps. It was him who got the vision regarding salvation coming to the jews along with the gentiles in Acts 10 which gives you and I hope. Yes this man who feared laid it down boldly!!! I want to be like that ;)

Great man of God, even though he feared man but he finally GOT IT and ran with it!

There is hope for us who have fear sometimes. We shouldnt live in fear constantly cuz that is definitely giving the devil to much credit but there are times we get fearful, it's our nature, our sinful nature. When we remind ourselves that God is ultimately in control of our lives and also Romans 8:28 we can get back on track and focus on the coming peace and rest in our life and have it through our trial.

in His love,
