history!Posted : 22 Apr, 2010 06:23 AMThe great majority of the creeds of historic Christendom have set forth the doctrines of Election, Predestination, and final Perseverance, as will readily be seen by any one who will make even a cursory study of the subject. On the other hand Arminianism existed for centuries only as a heresy on the outskirts of true religion, and in fact it was not championed by an organized Christian church until the year 1784, at which time it was incorporated into the system of doctrine of the Methodist Church in England. |

history!Posted : 22 Apr, 2010 09:26 AMYeah yeah...and stuff being around for a long time makes it true...right? The early christian church....christianing along for awhile, maybe what....300 years? Persecuted and hunted? Fed to animals? Then WHAMO! THE ENTIRE ROMAN EMPIRE IS CHRISTIAN! I think the voices of our little band of true believers could have been drowned out very easily...which is obviously what happened considering all the pagan practices that entered the "christian" church. Makes sense to me. Very smart move on El Diablo's part. But I'm sure some truth survived the infilWAPOW!! A short 150 years later! THE DARK AGES!! Bibles kept out of the hands of the people! Inquisitions! Burning anyone that disagreed! But no...they still had the truth...perfectly safe:rolleyes:. Anyway, just seems to me that some people trust their "early fathers" more for proof of truth than the bible itself. "It must be true! Our traditions say so!" Danger! Danger, Will Lutherwesleymethodistcatholicadventistcalvinson!! Seems to me that God has been calling His people out of "Babylon"/error all this time. Trying to get them back in the light. Revelation says that even in the last days, right before Jesus comes, God is still calling His people out of confusion. Must be deep and dark confusion, that's all I can say. It's kinda obvious, very obvious lately, that people fall away from the truth easier than they hold onto it. Even the Israelites...in...the direct...and visible...presence....of GOD....slid away so many times. But no sliding for us...we're awesome...we held onto the truth...we're smarter...go us!:rocknroll::rolleyes: Sarcasm! Sorry! I'm just pretty sure we're all in some error...just keep listening for God to call. I know I say that a lot...but it seems like there are a lot of Christians that have stopped listening. "Everything is wrong except what I believe! I have all truth! Mwahaha!! *point* Heretic!! *point* Heretic!!! Hahaaa!!!":goofball: Anyway...I know I do the same thing to a point. I have to believe in what I see as the truth with my whole being and I do believe other people are wrong about what they believe....but it's up to God to show us our error. We just need to keep our eyes opened, and ask God for some eye salve. The thing that gets under my skin(maybe it shouldn't) is when people present their beliefs like they have a monopoly on the truth...instead of sharing what they believe. Anyway...I need to go work on my attitude...later dude. |

history!Posted : 22 Apr, 2010 12:11 PMUmm... I don't think it's fair to try and pin the blame on Walter, considering he has only posted 2 thread relating to this issue over the past few weeks. There are other people who have posted more than that. And you say you're trying to discuss other subjects, yet this very post, as well as the last one, is the very thing everyone's been arguing over for the past couple of weeks... Please don't take it the wrong way. I'm not trying to pin the blame on you... we ALL contribute to the fire. I was just trying to defend a dear friend. Well, I'm off to work. Peace out, fellas! :peace: |

history!Posted : 22 Apr, 2010 09:24 PMI still don't think this is about "predestination" because I do believe that...but when you say "predestined" you seem to mean "God removes our will"...and I don't believe He needs to. |

history!Posted : 22 Apr, 2010 09:38 PMThe issue is not whether or not the topic's are in the bible, but it is calvin's manipulation of the truth to his own will. |

history!Posted : 23 Apr, 2010 04:02 AMIf Christ lives inside us,do you think our will is greater than his? Also, wouldnt Christ have the right to choose his own bride? We still have a will, only it was made alive through Christ......you know....I once was lost but found myself, was blind yet gave myself vision!LOL.......and Philipjohn you told on yourself you follower of men and demons. |
