If any one see his brother or sister sinning a sin which does not lead to death, that person should ask (pray), and God will give him (that person sinning) life for those who commit sin not leading to death. There is sin leading to death. I do not say that you should pray about that. All unrighteousness is sin, and there is sin not leading to death. I John chapter 5.
We know blaspheme of the Holy Spirit of God is an unpardonable sin as Jesus so states in Mark chapter 3:22-29.
Is there another sin unto death that will not be forgiven?
I just got the idea that this could probably be a distinction between sins as things we do wrong without knowing, by using too harsh word or something, versus sins done because of not being in the Holy Spirit (and thus dead in a spiritual sense).
If the sinner is still believing and can thus be reached by people telling him, that would make sense talk to him.
If the sinner is dead or did something that lead to his spiritual death, like denying the Holy Spirit or just doing anything not in the Holy Spirit but for all kinds of own benefits without caring about what God wants, we have no chance to get through by saying a word.
First God must regain this person and send the Holy Spirit back to him or her before he or she is even able to listen to brothers and sisters telling them about things they do wrong. Without the Holy Spirit they will tell others reason for reason why there are right without even considering what they were told...
From my understanding yes there is only one unfogivable sin. blasphamy of the holy spirit , such as the Pharisees did against Jesus.
The Pharisees knew the law better than everybody, they knew in there hearts and minds that Jesus miracles were done in the name of the father and proved his words to be true and that they also fufilled scripture. Knowing this they still trying to keep the people in darkness by saying that Jesus performed his miracles with the powers of a demon. They did this only because they were afraid of losing there respect with the people and there high worldly positions. That is knowingly lying on the spirit of god himself. When you do that and know exactly what you are doing and know in your heart what you mean, then you have made your choice, you have choosen Satan as your leader, and this gives him entire free rulership over you so you will not have a chance to comeback to god. Thats why the sin is the ONLY unforgivable sin. This sin is truly a unique sin most people never ever commit it even if they think they do, you basically have to be already totally evil to do it.
Tough subject. Most people believe this scripture is about physical death, and the sin leading to that.
I feel a little differently about it though. I think this is about the health laws (eating Pork, etc.) and the host of other regulations that do not cause us to lose salvation. We know that if we eat as the Bible instructs, we will be healthier, but does it cause us to fall from grace? Of course not. I think those are the types of things we are being instructed to pray for our brothers about.
BTW, Happy Resurrection Sunday! Our Lord Lives! Praise His Holy Name.
1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
3 And this will we do, if God permit.
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
That is a perfect example of one of those scriptures that seems so simple that no one could misunderstand it. That is,until we try to prove it. Then we realize there is way more here than we understand.
For instance, Peter denied Christ three times on the day He was crucified. Did He fall from grace? Is Peter going to hell?
According to this verse, as we understand it, it does. Then there is the prodigal son, the one sheep, etc.
These "Apostasy" verses, as we call them, need much more study and thought. I have found that if you cannot find an example of your interpretation in the Bible, you are wrong.
When you mention the acct with Peter, the man was not born again yet, nor had he received the Holy Spirit.
It is much easier to Agree with the word.

The difference between Pater and Judas, is that Peter wept bitterly and REPENTED of his sins, whereas Judas went out and hanged himself.
C'mon guys, wouldn't a sin unto death be ANY UNREPENTANT SIN? Also, lying to the Holy Spirit as Ananias and his wife Sapphira in Acts chapter 5.
Does not Paul in Galatians chapter 5, and Revelation chapter 21, tell us that the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, adulterer/adulteress, fornicators,, etc, will not inherit the kingdom of God.
All sins leads to death spiritually, emotionally, mentally, financially, and physically, if they are not repented of according to Paul in Romans... because the penalty of sin is death. But if a person is unrepentant, and die...without repentance in their sin (s) , I see this as unto death.
Yes all sin is death, but all sins do not bring death, Hebrews talks about the sin that no repentance would not be granted and tells us what that sin is.
