It means to trust, or have faith in, or I like to say act as truth and act as it is true.

Now I believe the bible clearly teaches faith cometh by hearing and hearing the word of God.

We have probably two hundred plus scriptures of the word believe in the New Testament

When I Was born Again I choose to believe and I then became a member of the family of God.

That is a bible example of faith,

Quick! Before the Calvinists get here! Did you choose to believe all on your own or did the Holy Spirit lead you into belief?! Just to clarify...

Mark LOL,

You will not hear me argue about anyone's salvation experience. I think that would be the ultimate in arrogance. That is a very private and beautiful experience between you and our Father. I wasn't there. All I can do is praise God that you had the experience.

But, let me post my testimony and there will be twenty posts saying that is impossible, God would never do that. I don't really believe in Calvinism or Arnenianism. Neither of them fits what the Bible teaches. The bible actually teaches a combination of the two. Don't tell the fanatics that, they will be coming to my house. LOL.

Blessings,

Leon

Very funny Mark!

Predestination is an interesting topic. I see it this way: God knows who will and will not believe. I don't understand how that fits in with free will, but God is omniscient, so He somehow knows! That doesn't lessen our obligation to witness, however.

I was raised in church and my parents taught me about God from birth. I never remember NOT believing, but when I was about 6, I made the conscious decision to believe. I think that was the specific "moment" of my salvation. Some would argue that I was always saved because I never "didn't believe" and I never rejected God. In some ways, that may be true, but I know that I became accountable for my sin when I realized and understood that a decision needed to be made...I didn't delay that decision!

I think my salvation experience was much like a "Damascus Road" thing. I met Jesus in a church. I called to Him in anger and bitterness and challenged Him to prove to me that He was real and true. He took hold of my arm, made Himself known to me and I collapsed, weeping on the floor. After listening to Him talk to me for several minutes I was helped up and oh yes, I was a Believer.

Here is my "translation" of Romans 8:28-30

Everything works cooperatively for the benefit of those who love God, that is, those who respond to the proposal that God has set forth for them. You see, because He knew ahead of time there would be responders He determined that they would be conformed into the likeness of His Son so that His Son could be the first born of a multitude of siblings. Specifically, to those whom God knew about ahead of time, He sent out a message and they responded, and to those who responded to the message He made innocent of sin, and those who were made innocent were also made honorable in His sight.

Here is something I want to throw out there for you to consider. Salvation is not for us. We are not saved for our sake just because we are lost and going to hell without salvation. Our salvation is for the Son. Father promised to give the Son a pure and Holy Kingdom but the Son had to make a willing sacrifice of Himself in order for this to come about and He volunteered to do so. This Kingdom will be made up, not just of saved servants, but of those who heard the voice of the Father calling them to the Kingdom and obediently following Him through the process of becoming willing and faithful siblings of the Son of God.

Yeah...I had the same experience Pianogal. It's difficult to have a "conversion experience" when you've always been "converted". Like the second son in the prodigal son parable. I wasn't baptized until I was 19....just never had felt "moved" previously. And yep, klmartin...I don't believe in Armenian-ism or Calvinism either...it's definitely a mix, and there are things about both that are unbiblical.

Leon, I think that's a great idea, we should post our testimonies. It would be great to hear how we all came to Christ.
