Hello everyone:
In the parable recorded by Luke chapter 15 verses 11-32, the word 'PRODIGAL' is not mentioned,not once.
Since the word is not mentioned, not even once, then why is that title laid upon the younger son.
The younger son spent a few dollars, yet he knew what type of man his father was,yet the older brother wasted his life because he never knew what type of man his father was, even though he spent more with his father than his younger brother.
The younger brother only wasted money, which can be replaced, but the older brother wasted his life, and time under the watchful eye of his father.
The younger brother had a relationship with his father, but the older brother never had a real relationship with his father.
Here we have two sons under the same roof with the same father. The younger knew his father,what he was like, his character, attitude and personality, but the older son had no idea who his father was,or what his father was like.
So then, which son wasted that which is more valueable, the younger son who wasted a few dollars, or the older son who wasted his relationship with his dad.

Once again Quiz, you’re not letting Jesus tell the story HIS way. Instead, you’re inserting your own false imaginations and turning the parable upside down .
Everyone, excerpt for you, knows the younger son wasted prodigalized) his inheritance.
It’s kinda like Jesus and everyone else had the parable wrong until you came along 2000 years later to set everyone straight.
The older son was NOT the prodigal! He was obviously a hypocrite who didn’t think he needed repentance—just like the Pharisees. The older son also didn’t love his father. In fact, the older son considered serving his father a kind of slavery, Quiz, that’s not love‼️‼️ The older brother wouldn’t even celebrate the return and repentance of his younger brother‼️‼️‼️

@dave & moon
The parable is about relationships, knowing people, who they are, what they are like.
The younger son knew what his father was like as he says I will return to my father,as he knows the relationship he has with his father.
The older brothers relationship depended upon works, obeying commandments as he says,All of these years i have obeyed your commandments.
Do we get to know who Yeshua is by obeying commandments,or by spending time with him.
Dave, once again, you.look at the surface of the ocean and marvel at the waves, but never go beneath the surface to see all of the life beneath the surface.

Quiz, once again and as always you’re missing the entire point, message, meaning and context of the parable.
Worse yet, your shallow interpretation turns the parable on it head, then falsely accuse others of being shallow
Why can’t you understand?
You seem to be suffering from the same kind of spiritual blindness as those of whom the parable was initially spoken against.
This is a simple parable that is easily understood by reading the entire context. Sadly not everyone, just like you, understood this simple parable.
The parable is not written merely to inform us about relationships.
The parable is about a prodigal son who wasted (prodigalized) his inheritance by going his own way living a wretched life. But when he lost it all and came to his senses realized he had sinned against his loving father.
The older son, like the Pharisees, although he wasn’t wasteful like the younger son, thought he was “obeying” the father by rigidly serving his father like an ungrateful slave instead of like a loving son.
In fact, the eldest son, like the Pharisees, “served God” with fool-hearty adherence to man made rules and saw no need of repentance.
I’m afraid you may be experiencing the same spiritual malady as the Pharisees
Jesus said in Matthew 13:13, “This is why I speak to them in parables: “Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand”.

@dave
Dave,once again the parable is about relationships,not wasting money,if you believe the parable is about wasting money, then you have a shallow understanding of the parable.
The father placed a ring upon the finger of his WASTEFUL, son who WASTED all of his inheritance, what does the ring represent,you should know this Dave, since you tell people they need you to help them to understand the Scriptures.
The ring is the family SIGNET ring,now Dave, what is the significance of the signet ring,you should know this one also,mister look at the surface of the water. Yepper, the signet ring meant the son could go imto town to make puchases, now why would the father trust his WASTEFUL son with a signet ring, Dave you need to look beneath the surface of the water for this one.
I leave that for you to answer.
Then tell everyone why the father clothed his WASTEFUL son with a beautiful robe, and placed sandals on his feet, mister 'This parable is only about wasted money'.
