PLOW IN HOPE
“Does he not certainly speak for our sake? It was written for our sake, because the plowman should plow in hope and the thresher thresh in hope of sharing in the crop.” -1 Cor. 9:10
In commenting on this passage, Calvin wrote, “It is an unjust thing that the husbandman should lay out his pains to no purpose in plowing and thrashing, but that the end of his labour is the hope of receiving the fruits. As it is so, we may infer that this belongs to oxen also, but Paul’s intention was to extend it farther, and apply it principally to men. Now, the husbandman is said to be a partaker of his hope when he enjoys the produce which he has obtained when reaping, but hoped for when plowing.”
Clearly, a man ought to enjoy the fruit of his labor. A man ought to taste that object of his hope by which he derived the strength to labor. The Law of God states this plainly in Deuteronomy 20:5-7.
A man plows in hope. A man buys a field in hope. A man takes a wife in hope, and it is good and right that the the man should enjoy the object of his hope. He should not be prevented from doing so. A man labors in the hope of a consummation of his labor.
Jesus says we must not fear the world, for He has overcome it. He says all authority in heaven and earth are His. Therefore, we go forth on the Great Commission mission. That is that hope under which we labor, that Jesus has overcome the world!

That battle below, did it continue or change to a different warfare...
Deuteronomy 20:7 And what man is there that hath betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her? let him go and return unto his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.
1 Corinthians 9:7 Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
8 Say I these things as a man? or saith not the law the same also?
That was the law, for the lawless and disobedient. for murderers and they who live by the sword and dying by it::
Matthew 26:5 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
1 Timothy 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
The warfare changed, no longer carnal ( considerations of selfishness and marriage as man does) but now mighty through God and bringing all things to the obedience of Christ..
2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:
4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Those previous ways of man, warring, are described for us, fightings and wars come from lusts, and those same fighters and lustful adulterers do not know that their friendship with the world means they are the enemies of God:
James 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?
2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Now for the hope of eternal life, the tribulations that God places on us, those sufferings of Christ not pleasures of the devil, gives us patience, experience and hope, and the shame goes away, because the love of God makes us endure...
Romans 5:3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
Love not the world, all that is of the world, selfish marriage consideration, is of the wicked one, and we are to overcome the world that is tempting us to be lovers of pleasures, or the world overcomes us, and we are to do Gods will, not our will, Gods will is in our tribulations, ours is in being lovers of pleasures and our own zselves..
1 John 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
2 Timothy 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

Adam, why haven’t you explained salvation??
I’ve asked you this question how many times??
It’s easy to answer, why can’t you answer?
Adam you claim to be sinless and perfect in your obedience so have you prayed according to the Lord’s command by daily asking forgiveness for your sins as you forgive the sins of others against you ??

David, Adam is posting about continual salvation that comes to those that are 'saved' by living a righteous life afterward. This is a Christian forum, everyone knows about initial salvation except obviously you David.
You and rsvp are teaching the 'putting the PETAL to the metal' in continual sinning perfectionism' which is of course is a heresy NOT taught in the Bible!
Even Moon CORRECTLY knows the 'once saved always saved' doctrine is a CULT teaching! Back to work for me!

QUOTE FLAT TEDDY: “David, Adam is posting about continual salvation that comes to those that are 'saved' by living a righteous life afterward. This is a Christian forum, everyone knows about initial salvation except obviously you David.” END QUOTE
Flat Teddy obviously doesn’t know what he’s talking about or anything about his so-called “initial” or “continual” salvations.
What is clear however, Flat Earth Teddy teaches salvation by human works of righteousness which is a false teaching.
Flat Teddy would do well to read, study and comprehend the book of Galatians which teaches against such foolish false teaching. Paul refers to the Galatians, who were messed up in works righteousness, as “you foolish Galatians”. Flat Teddy might wanna take heed.
Flat Teddy doesn’t understand the fact we are saved by GRACE and GRACE ALONE.
So, even though we are saved NOT BY OUR good/righteous works, nevertheless, we are saved FOR good/righteous works.
We ARE NOT saved by living a good/righteous life or by our own good works!!!

while there is not a Bible verse that specifically states we commit a sinful act each day, we do have verses that remind us that we have inherited the capacity to sin at any moment. "Sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned" (Romans 5:12). "Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me" (Psalm 51:5). In addition, we have commands that we know we never keep, much less on a daily basis. For instance, who can claim to love God with all his heart, mind and soul every moment of every day? No one. Yet, that is the greatest commandment (Matthew 22:36-38). Failing to love God completely at all times is a daily sin for all Christians.
We also have a verse that warns us of the deceitfulness of our old sinful nature, ( you too pay close attention to this it's getting good) which in a sense is warning us of the potential, if not the likelihood, of daily sin. "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" (Jeremiah 17:9). Even the apostle Paul was frustrated with his own battle against indwelling sin. "For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members" (Romans 7:22-23). This capacity to sin led him to cry in desperation, "What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?" (Romans 7:24).
Solomon knew full well that he and all men not only have the potential for sin, but that we all exercise that capacity routinely. As he stated in his prayer at the dedication of the temple, "If they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin…" (1 Kings 8:46). And Solomon spoke of it again in the book of Ecclesiastes: "Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins" (Ecclesiastes 7:20). Again, while these verses do not unequivocally indicate daily sin, they certainly warn us against the pride of saying at any moment that we have no sin.
the good news is that we will not have to strive forever against daily sin. One day we will be in heaven with our Savior and will be freed from the presence and power of sin, just as we have already been freed from its penalty............. but until then fix a flat and a is for Apple jacks sin more than they care to admit

EXCELLENT POST RSVP!!
You’re correct RAVP, we must love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind and soul but NO ONE can claim to do that perfectly.
How can we trust a heart that is desperately wicked when it tells us we love perfectly?
Flat Teddy doesn’t know what he believes. He says we’re saved by works of righteousness then he seems to say we’re not saved by works at all. I don’t think he understands true salvation or what it means to be perfect

"How can we trust a heart that is desperately wicked when it tells us we love perfectly?"
Here is how:
Ezekiel 36:25 Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.
26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
" we do have verses that remind us that we have inherited the capacity to sin at any moment. "Sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned" (Romans 5:12)."
We have the next chapter of Romans 6, completing the problem verse of sin entering the world, and how Christ entered the world, to destroy sin ( sin is the works of the devil not of God which is righteousness works) and the ones comiting sin are of their father the devil, and they have not crucified their old man to destroy the body of sin, ( which is having Christ in us and is the purpose of God after all ) to not continue to serve sin at all...
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
1 John 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
"For instance, who can claim to love God with all his heart, mind and soul every moment of every day? No one."
All you have to do for the first time is read the words here, if you claim to know God ( believe in God) and do not keep His word to love another, then it is a lie. But who does know God, keeps His word ( to love one another as yourself) and in them, the love of God is perfected ( loving God with all their heart every moment)
The testimony of God is sure, read the next verse of 1 John here, we re called to love one another and if we do, God dwells in us, AND WHEN GOD DWELLS IN US, THE TESTIMONY IS THIS: HIS LOVE IS [PERFECTED IN US( so the proof is, that nobody can love imperfectly if God dwells in them, this is the testimony of God in us..
1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1 John 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
That separates the devil and God, the ones who do unrighteousness when they never do righteousness, who do not love their brother ever, are manifested to not be of God by not loving at all times..
1 John 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
Psalm 106:3 Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness AT ALL TIMES
Proverbs 17:17 A FRIEND LOVETH AT ALL TIMES, and a brother is born for adversity.
Romans 7 becomes Romans 8, which means, we struggle when we mind the things of the flesh, but when we mind the things of the spirit, the struggle with the flesh has changed:
Romans 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

LIKEWISE - EXCELLENT POST ADAM7777!!
Even rsvp has changed his mind, comes to LIGHT of Scripture and understands there is 'not a Bible verse that specifically states we commit a sinful act each day' because its impossible for a saint to keep on sinning by definition! Like David says but does not understand - EXCELLENT POST RSVP!!
But David also posts - 'You’re correct RAVP' yet I don't know who that is globe head David?
Ezekiel certainly would not LIE to us like David does! For Ezekiel says in 36:26 - 'A >>>new heart<<< also will I give you, and a >>>new spirit<<< will I put within you: and I will >>>take away the stony heart out of your flesh,<<< and I will >>>give you an heart of (SOFT RIGHTEOUS) flesh.<<<

Adam writes - 'We have the next chapter of Romans 6, completing the problem verse of sin entering the world, and how Christ entered the world, to destroy sin ( sin is the works of the devil not of God which is righteousness works) and the ones committing sin are of their father the devil, and they have not crucified their old man to destroy the body of sin, ( which is having Christ in us and is the purpose of God after all ) to not continue to serve sin at all...'
Isn't it interesting Adam that David ALWAYS QUACKS about others taking Scripture out of CONTEXT when obviously he leaves out the TRUE understanding of chapter 5 WITH that of Romans chapter 6!
Globe head David just does not WANT to know CONTEXT because it might destroy his agenda about his love for sin like breaking the Sabbath he says he likes to do every week! OUCH!
