n most evangelical churches to offer the people, especially the young people, a maximum of entertainment and a minimum of serious instruction. It is scarcely possible in most places to get anyone to attend a meeting where the only attraction is God. One can only conclude that God's professed children are bored with Him, for they must be wooed to meeting with a stick of striped candy in the form of religious movies, games and refreshments.

People think of the world, not as a battleground, but as a playground. We are not here to fight; we are here to frolic. We are not in a foreign land; we are at home. We are not getting ready to live, but we are already living, and the best we can do is rid ourselves of our inhibitions and our frustrations and live this life to the full.

This is why Jesus taught the KINGDOM rather than religious formulas; esoteric snake oil.

The human heart contains both a throne and a cross.

We occupy the one—and Jesus occupies the other.

"The human heart contains both a throne and a cross."

Matthew 16 - "24Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25For whoever would save his lifeg will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? 27For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done."

Notice Jesus says; "what he has done" - Not "what he has believed".

I tell you, twenty minutes on your knees in silence before God—will sometimes teach you more than you can learn out of books, and teach you more than you can learn in churches.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

It is possible to run a church and all of its activities—without the Holy Spirit. You can organize it, get a board together, call a pastor, form a choir, launch a Sunday school and a ladies' aid society. You get it all organized—and the organization part is not bad.

But I am warning about getting organized, getting a pastor and turning the crank—some people think that is all there is to it. The Holy Spirit can be absent and the pastor goes on turning the crank, and nobody finds it out for years and years!

What a tragedy, my brethren! What a tragedy that this can happen in a Christian church!

If you could increase the attendance of your church until there is no more room, if you could provide everything that men want and love and value—and yet you did not have the Holy Spirit—you might as well have nothing at all. For it is "'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the Lord Almighty" (Zechariah 4:6). Not by the eloquence of a man, not by good music, not by good preaching—but it is by the Spirit, that God works His mighty works.

Most of the churches are worldly in spirit, morally anemic, and in a wretched state generally—because for two full generations they have been told that justification is no more than a "not guilty" verdict pronounced by the heavenly Father upon a sinner who can present the magic coin with the wondrous "open-sesame" engraved upon it.

Americans live no longer in homes, but in theaters. The members of many families hardly know each other, and the face of some popular TV star is to many wives as familiar as that of their husbands! Let no one smile—rather should we weep at the portent.

NOTE! Friends A.W. Tozer NEVER speaks of WRITTEN Scripture nor quotes from it!

Its none other than the messy-anic views and doctrines of Chucklup/Chuckech/Chucknos and now Chuckpah forced upon Christians on this forum in MULTIPLE threads, putting down Christians in general instead of identifying denominational false teachings! Right friends?

Hey hugs,

Before you judge a person or judge what that person believes you need to spend a little time with that person.

Have you ever read anything written by Tozer, well he is not in this life to be able to talk with you, so why not read a book that he had written before you pass judgement.

Hugs, Tozer had said this back in the 60's

That the Gospel that was being proclaimed during his time;

If the gospel were poison that it would not kill anyone If the gospel were medicine it would not heal anyone.

Tozer was witnessing the Gospel being watered down in order to make people FEEL good about themselves, and even more so today.

Feelings not faith are the message today.
