Beware of those claiming to hear the voice of God, the Holy Spirit or of Jesus.

Today it has become fashionable for many to speak in terms of "hearing" the voice God, or hearing the Holy Spirit or hearing the voice Jesus speaking directly to them. But Scripture is clear, the only words spoken to us from God, the Holy Spirit or Jesus, are found only in the Bible. The Bible even warns those claiming to speak for God but have not been commissioned by God to do so.

If anyone keeps insisting they are speaking for God or hearing voices from Him, then demand they prove it by instantaneously raising the dead or by instantaneously restoring a missing limb or by instantaneously restoring the sight of one born blind or by instantaneously healing a deformed man and enabling him to jump and dance the next moment. Or, if they can't do any of that, then simply ask them to predict the short term future ***in detail*** just like the real OT prophets did long ago!! Don't give me that foggy unspecified "prophecy" of the revered false prophet Nostradamus and don't give me that hit-and-miss false prophecy of today's charismatic "prophets"

Amen David. Many Charismatic preachers claim that when they place hands on people they are healed and use Mark 16:17,18 as their Biblical authorization. However all the major Bible translations except the KJV have this statement immediately after Mark 16:8: "The earliest manuscripts and some other ancient witnesses do not have Mark 16:9-20!!"

Mark 16:17,18: And these signs will accompany those who believe... They will pick up snakes with their hands, and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all {???}; they will place hands on sick people, and they will get well {???}.

In the New Covenant healing is only possible as per James 5:14: Is anyone among you {Born again believers} sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith {If it is the Lord's will}will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.

Unfortunately most church elders do not meet the requirements for born again elders according to God's Word in I Timothy 3:1-8!!

*}**DOES GOD'S WORD SAY THAT *ADDING** OR **TAKING WORDS** AWAY FROM GOD'S WORD IS A SIN**??

Deuteronomy 4:2: The Lord said, "Do not **ADD** to what I command you and do not **SUBTRACT** from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you!!"

Deuteronomy 12:32: The Lord said, "See that you do all I command you, do not **ADD** to it or **TAKE AWAY** from it!!"

Proverbs 30:5,6: Every Word of God is **FLAWLESS**, He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him! Do not **ADD* to His Words, or He will rebuke you and prove you a **LIAR**!!

Deuteronomy 18:17-19: The Lord said to Moses, "I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among your fellow Israelites, and I will put My words in His mouth. He will tell them **EVERYTHING** I command Him. I Myself will call to account anyone who does not listen to My words that the Prophet speaks in My name!!"

John 14:21-24: Jesus says, "Whoever has My commands and keeps them is the one who loves Me... Anyone who loves Me will obey My teaching, My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our home with them.. Anyone who does not love Me will not obey My teaching. These words you hear are not My own; they belong to the Father who sent Me!" {See Deut 18:17-19 above}

Acts 5:32: We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given **TO THOSE WHO OBEY HIM**!"

Luke 6:46-49: Jesus says, "As for everyone who comes to Me and hears **MY WORDS** and **PUTS THEM INTO PRACTICE**. I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid foundation on rock. When the flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears **MY WORDS** and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete!"

I Peter 1:23-25: You have been **BORN AGAIN THROUGH THE LIVING AND ENDURING **WORD OF GOD**!! All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field, the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the **WORD OF THE LORD STANDS FOREVER**. And this is the **WORD** that was preached to you.

Matthew 24:35: Jesus says, Heaven and earth will pass away, but **MY WORDS WILL NEVER PASS AWAY**!"

I John 2:3-5: We know we have come to know Him {Jesus} if we obey His commands. The man who says, "I know Him," but does not do what He commands is a liar and the truth is not in him. But if anyone **OBEYS HIS WORD**, God's love is truly made complete in him!

Matthew 4:4: Jesus says, "Man does not live on bread alone, but on **EVERY WORD FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD**!"

Luke 8:15: Jesus says, "But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the **WORD**, retain it, and by perseverance produce a crop."

John 17:17: Jesus prays to His Father, "Sanctify them by the Truth, **YOUR WORD IS TRUTH**!"

Acts 20:32: Paul says, "Now I commit you to God and to the **WORD OF HIS GRACE**, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified!"

Romans 10:17: Consequently, **FAITH COMES FROM HEARING THE MESSAGE**, and the message is heard **THROUGH THE WORD OF CHRIST**!

James 1:18; He chose to give us **BIRTH THROUGH THE WORD** of Truth!!

I Corinthians 15:2: By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the **WORD** preached to you. Otherwise you have believed in vain!

2 Corinthians 4:2: We do not use deception, nor do we distort the **WORD OF GOD**!

Ephesians 1:13: You also were included in Christ **WHEN** you heard the **WORD** of Truth, the gospel of your salvation.

Ephesians 2:17: Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the **WORD OF GOD**!

Colossians 1:25: I have become its servant by the commission God gave to me to present to you the **WORD OF GOD IN ALL ITS FULLNESS**!

Colossians 3:16: Let the **WORD OF CHRIST** dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom!

I Thessalonians 2:13: We thank God continually because, when you received the **WORD OF GOD**, which you heard from us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the **WORD OF GOD**!

2 Timothy 2:15: Do your best to present yourselves to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who **CORRECTLY HANDLES THE WORD ** of truth!

2 Timothy 3:15,16: 4:1,2: You have known the **HOLY SCRIPTURES**, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. **ALL SCRIPTURE IS GOD-BREATHED** and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of His appearing and His kingdom, I give you this charge: **PREACH THE WORD**!! {**WHICH IS THE ENTIRE NEW COVENANT AND NEW TESTAMENT**!!}

**DOES GOD"S WORD SAY THAT **ADDING** OR **TAKING WORD'S AWAY** FROM GOD's WORD IS AN UMPARDONABLE SIN**??

Revelation 22:16,18,19: "I, Jesus. have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the Churches.... I warn everyone who hears the **WORDS OF THE PROPHECY OF THIS BOOK**: If anyone **ADDS** {Like the RC popes} anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this Book {Including **ETERNAL HELL**} And if anyone **TAKES WORDS AWAY** {Like the RC popes} from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the Tree of Life and in the Holy City {The New Jerusalem}, which are described in this book."

THE GREAT COMMISSION: Matthew 28:18-20: Jesus says, All authority in heaven and on ***EARTH*** has been given to Me {Not some RC Pope}. Therefore go and make disciples of *ALL NATIONS*...teaching them to **OBEY EVERYTHING** I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very *END OF THE AGE*!

GOD Almighty did not speak in the Queen Elizabeethen English or in any modern languages, He spoke to Hebrews in languages they could understand.

Paul said GOD Almighty spoke to him in the Hebrew language, not English.

Great post, littledavid.

As to whether that passage is in mark 16 or not, it doesn't matter. why? because peter and paul and the other disciples did do miracles, struck people dead, raised the dead, healed the lame, spoke in foreign languages unknown to them. paul was bit by a snake and didn't fall over dead, even though the people who saw it expected him to. To say that passage isn't there doesn't do away with the issue.

Acts 2:43: Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the **APOSTLES**.

Acts 5:12-16: At the hands of the **APOSTLES** many signs and wonders were taking place among the people!

2 Corinthians 12:12: The signs of a true **APOSTLE** {Paul} were performed among you with all perseverance, by signs and wonders and miracles.

Richard, you are not a mindless bot who throws scripture around like an amulet. let's have a real discussion about this. you quoted verses about apostles as though they were the only ones who did signs and wonders,etc.

(Act 6:8) And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

(Act 8:6) And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spoke, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

(Act 8:13) Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.

(Act 15:12) Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.

so we have Stephen, Philip and barnabas doing these same miracles. now, are you going to say they were apostles? now, I would say barnabas actually was an apostle because luke says he was.

(Act 14:14) Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard it , they tore their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

my point is you have the Holy Spirit. And just like those who wrote the letters in the new testament and those who preached in the book of acts, we should explain the scriptures. the Ethiopian eunuch was reading Isaiah. Philip asked him if he understood what he was reading. the eunuch said "how can I, except someone should guide me." in the synagogue paul didn't just read scripture to them, he explained it. and so should we. verses of scripture aren't magic writing on pieces of paper. if we don't understand them, we might as well not be able to read or to hear them.

Mark 16:17,18: And these signs will accompany **THOSE WHO BELIEVE**... They will pick up snakes with their hands {???}, and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all {???}; they will place hands on sick people, and they will get well {???}.

Montanagrace would you advise **THOSE WHO BELIEVE** to pick up deadly snakes and drink deadly poison??

Acts 6:5,6: They chose **STEPHEN**, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and **PHILIP**... They presented these men to the **APOSTLES**, who prayed and **LAID THEIR HANDS ON THEM**!

The **APOSTLES** including Paul and Barnabas {Acts 14:14} and Stephen and Philip performed miracles in the New Testament!

No, Richard, I wouldn't voluntarily pick up snakes or tell others to do that. I don't know what those who persecuted cristians in those days would make believers do. that might have been said in view of the possibility of torture inflicted on cristians.

as to Philip and Stephen, are you saying that they were made apostles?

(Act 6:5) And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

(Act 6:6) Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

of course, that means all these named would be apostles, which I have no problem with.

Brother Richard, thank you for discussing this and clarifying your point of view.

Hello everyone;

Yes the Truthseeker is at it one more time, making the sheeple to think about what they believe

Mar 16:14

Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.

Mar 16:15

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

Mar 16:16

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Mar 16:17

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Mar 16:18

They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Mar 16:19

So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

Mar 16:20

And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Mark 16:17,18: And **THESE SIGNS WILL **ACCOMPANY** **THOSE WHO BELIEVE**... They will pick up snakes with their hands {???}, and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all {???}; they will place hands on sick people, and they will get well.

Gracenotworkssaves: You obviously believe that Mark 16:17,18 are the **INSPIRED WORDS OF GOD** and so you would obviously advise all **THOSE WHO BELIEVE** to pick up deadly snakes and drink deadly poison??
