In the "Sermon on the Mount" Jesus gave the foundational teachings of Christian living. These were not suggestions but new commandments. He was thorough and what He did was to point out where sin begins. Notice when He quotes something from the Old Testament and then He contrasts it by saying "BUT I SAY TO YOU". He is giving NEW instructions that don't allow us any excuses. He raised the bar, He raised the standard that we all must obey.
Mat 5:21 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.'
22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire. NKJV
The key to this passage is "angry with his brother..."WITHOUT A CAUSE". God is saying that those who are angry at their brother without a cause is guilty of MURDER and nothing less. The intent here is not just any cause that we can justify in our own minds, but a cause that is righteous in God's eyes. That is the standard by which we ourselves are judged. God's standard.
Now reflect for a while and ask yourself if you have been angry at someone for anything whatsoever. Were you angry at someone because they disagree with something you believe? Were you ever angry at someone because of a perceived injury to someone you know? Were you ever angry at someone because you believed in a rumor or Gossip? Were you ever angry at someone because they bruised your ego or hurt your pride? Did you get angry at someone because they took your parking spot? The list can go on and on if you think hard enough. Well guess what? In God's eyes you are guilty of MURDER. This is a hard pill for some to swallow but it is God's word that speaks truth here. So how do you make amends if this is the case? It is interesting how Jesus gave us the answer in the very next verse as to what our responsibility is.
Mat 5:23 THEREFORE if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,
In other words, you know in your heart that someone has something against you because of something you did or said or if you are or have been angry without a cause in God's eyes. To take it even deeper. Suppose you did or said things about a person that in God's eyes falsely maligned a persons character and they are not aware you did it? Same principle applies in my opinion.
24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
In other words you have to first go and make every effort to reconcile with your brother or sister before you can go boldly before the altar of God and present your gift. Notice that Jesus here does not just simply say to confess your sins and all is well. He said you have to go and reconcile. That my brothers and sisters is a true heart of repentance.
I hope that we all learn from the words of our Lord in this and press forward to the depths of His wisdom and love one another JUST AS Christ loved us.
John 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him."NKJV
Wow!!!!! Very Deep I might add...However,I Am not sure if you mean as..."Robbing Something from someone like there dignity and respect when you don't reconizle With Your Brother And Sister In Christ...Because "Murdering is what it is like "Abortion or "A Horriable Act Of Violence" ..."Taking someone parking spot and getting mad about it...Itsn't The Right Attitude to have and our mind should be like "Christ" but to me that isn't The Same As Murdering Someone"...Please Clarify why you believe this way Walter 4 You!!!! However, I do agree with you on that before we Approach "The Throne Room Of God And Come Bold Before Him..just in any old way we have to ask "The Precious HolySpirit For His Help And Help Us To Be Able To Forgive" We Then Have To "Reconzile" with Our Brother And Sister So We Can Have Our Sins Forgive And Wash In The Blood Of The Lamb...If we want "The Lord To Forgive Us We Must Do This And To Recieve His Love And Forgivness Power On Others We Must Be Able To Do This...Walter 4 You....Not sure if that how you ment it...but I know part of what I just said you believe in.....
I copied and pasted this from Walter's post above. I think it will answer your question about what he was saying was murder, and why.
Mat 5:21 "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'YOU SHALL NOT MURDER, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.'

I think "Murder And Anger" is totally two different sins..."The only way I could see "Murder" as taking someone parking spot (which I have never heard of being a sin like that...more of controlling our mindsets to not get in The Flesh but to be in a act of praise like "Joyce Meyers" says in All Circumstance...like Praise The Lord when you stuck in Traffic things like that or if someone takes Your Parking Spot You Praise Jesus And That He Will Provide A New One) is if you dwell on it and allow yourself to dwell on it...and you curse underneath your breath or you get inraged about it all The Time then maybe The Person has a problem with their Anger and it could become "Murder" We are all guily of sin and there is no doubts about that...If someone hurts our love ones of course it will hurt and we might say somethings that aren't right but it is only "The Love Of Christ" that can pentrate our hearts not to get angry over negative people but to me that has nothing to do with "Murder" has to do with Viloence...All it is your just hurting yourself and hurting Your Relationship With Jesus...You can "Murder" if Your Husband Or Wife Cheat On You Some "Partners" Become Inrange" and then a spirit of "Murder" can come into their hearts but not over every day trival situations...I mean we could debate until we are "Blue In The Face Leon" which Biblicical Translation is right but Let The Lord Deal With Each One Of Us..."Let The Precious HolySpirit Convict So We Will Never Walk The Path Of Sin"....
But all I did was paste a part of Walter's post. And all he did was quote Jesus, so agree or disagree with Him. I was just showing you what Walter was saying.
ARE YOU PARNOID OR SOMETHING!!!!! ALL I DID WAS SIMPLE STATE HOW I BELIEVE AND THAT IT...MY DAD EVEN SAYS THAT EXTREME POINT OF VIEW AND IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY LOGICAL SENSE...WHAT WALTER 4 YOU WAS SAYING...AND MY DAD BEEN A BIBLE TEACHER FOR MANY YEARS....YOU GUYS ARE PATHEIC...WE HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU GUYS RIGHT INORDER TO KNOW WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IT...WHY IN THE WORLD DO YOU GUYS HAVE TO BE RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING...CAN WE SAY ANNOYING... OUR OPIONIONS CAN BE DIFFERENT THEN YOURS AND BE RIGHT AS WELL!!! I HAD A HORRIABLE DAY AT WORK I DON'T NEED THIS GARBABGE.....:boxing:
I am sorry if you are angry, I was just telling you that I couldn't take the credit for the post. I just copied and pasted to try to show you why he was saying what he did. I didn't even offer an opinion. All I did was re-post part of what Walter wrote.
I am not trying to be unkind here, I only wish to give you my honest opinion. These hysterical rants that you have posted under almost every category need to stop. They are very childish and ugly. I pray that you will get some help for the anger and distrust that you feel toward men or you most certainly will scare every man away who reads your posts. Maybe you should consider taking a break from searching for a relationship until you are healed enough to function well within one. Blessings, Lydia
I think you might not be understanding an important point and please correct me if I am wrong. What Jesus is saying and these are His words is that "whoever is angry at his brother... "without a cause" ....is in danger of the judgment". Now let's be clear here. Jesus is making a very profound statement. The key is being angry ...."without a cause".... and the cause would be something that Jesus Himself would consider to be valid not what we consider to be a reason for getting angry. Which judgment would a person be in danger of? The same judgment that a Murderer would be.
This is a tough pill for some to swallow but they are the words of Christ.
Execellent question. When I read over this thread on Saturday, I chuckled to myself, saying, no, I have murdered anyone today without, but I can't promise what tomorrow will bring, WITH CAUSE...
And you know, many Christians don't realize that being angry without a just cause, is the same as murder in that, when we're angry with someone there is no reasoning whatsoever. Just as when a person murders someone, there is no reasoning...
In anger we speak things and think things about the person that are really evil and unjust. And I think this is the point Jesus was making, that anger is the same as murder, because anger not only kills the spirit, but eveil words spoken in anger kills the character of the person you're angry with... as well as it kills your own spirit.
Therefore, Jesus says, if you're angry without a cause, which in most cases of anger, once reviewed clearly, it is without a cause, that is not worth of such emotion... But when we're angry, we do indeed judge a person falsely and unfairly a person out of our anger... and we know unrighteous judging is sin, because to he honest, in our anger, we usually speak words condemning the person we're angry with to hell...
I think James makes this statement of Jesus even more clear in James chapter 3, when he speak about the tongue not being able to be tamed... ET paraphrased... we can tame and train cats, dog, chickens, birds, even plants and trees to grown in the manner we desire. But it continues to behoove me why we can not tame our tongues from being unruly, and from speaking evil words which are dealy poisons about others or to them when we're angry.
Jesus lets us know, Be angry but do not sin. Jesus Himself showed His anger. Iit is not a sin to be angry, the sin comes when we allow out tongues to speak false evils (murder)against the person.
