there are two kinds of prayer

Prayer with the mind.

Prayer with the spirit.

Praying with the mind is helpful. It helps the party we pray for, it helps ourselves because it is talking to God..that awareness that God is able and willing to answer prayers. God loves to hear from us. Here we are free will beings and we invest time in talking to God in prayer, God loves that.

Prayer done by speaking in tongues and thinking about the individual we are praying for or picturing the person we are praying for in our minds and then speaking in tongues for them is "perfect prayer"....That is, as much as we know with our minds about a person, their needs, their situation...God knows more than we do...that is why prayer done in tongues is perfect...it allows God to act freely in the situation, rather than the specific way we are requesting God to act when we pray with our minds...

Hey Mr.Mikey

Is this prayer with the MIND,or the SPIRIT.

Mat 14:28 And answering Him, Peter said, Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the waters.

Mat 14:29 And He said, Come! And going down from the boat, Peter walked on the waters to go to Jesus.

Yet this is,Real prayer, even answered immediately.

Mat 14:30 But seeing the wind strong, he was afraid, and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me!

Same here:

Mat 20:30 And behold! Two blind ones sitting beside the way, hearing that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, saying, Have pity on us, Lord, Son of David!

Mat 20:31 But the crowd rebuked them, that they be quiet. But they cried out the more, saying, Have pity on us, Lord, Son of David!

Mat 20:32 And stopping, Jesus called them, and said, What do you desire that I do to you?

Mat 20:33 They said to Him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.

Mat 20:34 And being moved with pity, Jesus touched their eyes. And instantly their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.

PRAYER:

The main motivation of PRAYER or PRAYING is not to be GETTING THINGS.

Prayer is to be GETTING GOD,to be knowing Him as He is.

Knowing Him for who He is,amd what HE is,not just to be getting things.

Shalom:

Mouth of GOD

I don't see what is so funny...LOL?

Prayer is a serious matter, please point out chapter & verse, where we are instructed to pray in tongues.

I doubt you will find it, because it simply is not there. The "perfect prayer" according to Y'shua is Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed it be thy name...This was how Y'shua taught us to pray, to the Father in His Name, because you have to go thru the son(the perfect sacrifice) to get to the Father.

When you are praying in another "tongue" how do you know you are not cursing G-d or the person you are praying for, or are you just edifying yourself with the unknown language?

KJV Romans 8:26~ Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Mouth of GOD:

Mikey, have you been having tooooo much sugar.'

Where in the universe are you getting this DRIBBLE from.Surely not from the Word of GOD.

Sounds like from one of the Health, and Wealth charlitans on the knucklehead box.

Let us see about this matter from the WORD of GOD,not from men.

1Cor 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.

Cannot use the word 'MIND',Phil says this almost every time this subject is opened.

1Cor 14:15 What then is it? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the mind; I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the mind.

The word 'AND' is a conjunctive, look up conjunctives @wikipedia.com

Let us look at this verse 14 please!

I will pray with the spirit AND-AND-AND-AND-AND-AND-AND I will ALSO-ALSO-ALSO-ALSO PRAY with the MIND-MIND-MIND-MIND.

Mind in the Greek language:

Original Word: νοῦς, νοός, νοΐ, νοῦν, ὁ

Part of Speech: Noun, Masculine

Transliteration: nous

Phonetic Spelling: (nooce)

Short Definition: the mind, reasoning faculty

Definition: the mind, the reason, the reasoning faculty, intellect.

3563 nos (a masculine noun) the God-given capacity of each person to think (reason); the mind; mental capacity to exercise reflective thinking. For the believer, 3563 (nos) is the organ of receiving God's thoughts, through faith.

Ro 12:2,3: "2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind (3653 /lynthos), so that you may prove what the will (2307 /thlēma) of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. 3For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith (4102 /pstis)" (NASU).

Could it be possible that ABBA,does not want us to be MINDLESS when praying, and SINGING.

For this reason alone,WORSHIP TEAMS are not of GOD.

They make you mindless, with no responsibilty of bringing anything with which to WORTHSHIP Yeshua, and ABBA.

Hey Phil, guess what, the MIND is to be used when PRAYING,AND SINGING.

Prayer and singing are to be led of the Holy Spirit, and both must be INTELLIGENT.

No babbling,or spasmatic movements,no falling on the floor rolling around.

INTELLIGENT,just as GOD Himself is Intelligent.

1Cor 14:16 Else, if you bless in the spirit, the one occupying the place of the unlearned, how will he say the amen at your giving of thanks, since he does not know what you say?

1Cor 14:17 For you truly give thanks well, but the other is not built up.

The believer is to be concerned witht those around himself or herself.

Most of the so-called TONGUES and TONGUE-A-THONS are just selfsh and self centered.

I speak from experience with this.

Shalom

Mouth of GOD

Loving,

I have a question...

..."How do you know what you are Praying when you Pray in tongues -- unless you also have The Gift of UNDERSTANDING TONGUES"?

Riddle me that Batman?

Maybe you are one of those RARE CHristIAnS that get a lot of Gifts from The Holy Spirit.

I tell you though...those two would be quite a sight!

Kind of like a dog chasing it's Tail?

"Garble...Garble....Howl...hOwLLL!"

"I said 'Welcome Everyone'"

The book of Acts tells about Holy Spirit and Tounges...the only thing I recall of Praying is Eph 6:18 but it isnt about praying in Tongues...its about Praying in the Spirit...and thats Holy Spiirt G4151 Strongs / Lexicon

Eph 6:18~ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the [[[ Spirit, ]]] and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Paul speaks about Tongues in 1 Cor14:1-40 I believe but does not mention Praying in Tongues...He mentions Praying in Spirit...xo
