1. Moses was pasturing the flocks of Jethro, his father in law, the chief of Midian, and he led the flocks after the free pastureland, and he came to the mountain of God, to Horeb.
2. An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire from within the thorn bush, and behold, the thorn bush was burning with fire, but the thorn bush was not being consumed.
3. So Moses said, "Let me turn now and see this great spectacle why does the thorn bush not burn up?"
4. The Lord saw that he had turned to see, and God called to him from within the thorn bush, and He said, "Moses, Moses!" And he said, "Here I am!"
Ya, have often imagined my first visit to Israel and taking off my shoes to feel holy ground beneath my feet for the first time. ...Actual ground or sand like, not the airport concrete :)
Moses, Jesus Christ, everyone and anyone who was a man of God in the Old Testament had the spirit of God UPON them. If they messed up, as in not obeying God, the spirit of God was not upon them...As in obedience was a condition.
Fast forward to the future, you and I, we have the spirit of God in us...that is unconditional on our behavior, like saved (body, soul and spirit), sealed, never gona leave us. Yes, a mind blower for those who choose to believe God's word, a real mental struggle for those carnal Christians who love to complicate the bible...
Old Testament = UPON New Testament
Acts through the Church epistles = IN enough said.
Do yourself a favor and think about it as you read it for yourself...
Right, Jesus Christ still not God, his walk with God was perfect in obedience, otherwise the spirit of God upon him would have been gone and we would not be here, nor would he have been our Savior...
angelforlove - I forgot something...when you read the Old Testament, notice that God does things that come into the five senses world.you mentioned Moses and the burning bush....see, the rule back then was SEE THEN BELIEVE.remember Jesus Christ doing things, healings, water to wine, walking on water...and what did people do, how did the apostles react, ya marveled, believed, the good stuff
Today, the rule is this BELIEVE THEN SEE.....think about when you got born again, you confessed with your mouth the Lord Jesus, believed in your heart that God raised him from the dead, yes God evaluated that you indeed did these things with your heart, i.e. that you believed...and the result was being saved. In every day living, you believe in God's love, his presence and power, you receive peace of mind.....COOL, HUH?
why the difference? Again, Old Testament = GOD UPON
New Testament = GOD IN or Holy spirit in you or Christ in you.
Ya, have often imagined my first visit to Israel and taking off my shoes to feel holy ground beneath my feet for the first time. ...Actual ground or sand like, not the airport concrete :)
That would be a Wonderful experience.
My one girlfriend went to the Israel with a group about 4
years ago.
She said it was just unforgetable experience and wants to
go again in a couple yrs. I would not want to go because
too many Wars going on over in those Countries now.:excited:
Listen to me I will tell you what is Christianity:
God Jesus is the Creator of the universe!!!!
He is God and according to His words in the Bible He lived before Abraham because He is egual to God.
He said that all who looked at Him saw God!!!
Let's read that He is the Word of God and the Word of God is God!!!!
John 1
The Eternal Word
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend[a] it.
Johns Witness: The True Light
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.[b]
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own,[c] and His own[d] did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
The Word Becomes Flesh
14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
15 John bore witness of Him and cried out, saying, This was He of whom I said, He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.
16 And[e] of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son,[f] who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.
A Voice in the Wilderness
19 Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who are you?
20 He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, I am not the Christ.
21 And they asked him, What then? Are you Elijah?
He said, I am not.
Are you the Prophet?
And he answered, No.
22 Then they said to him, Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?
23 He said: I am
The voice of one crying in the wilderness:
Make straight the way of the LORD,[g]
as the prophet Isaiah said.
24 Now those who were sent were from the Pharisees. 25 And they asked him, saying, Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?
26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know. 27 It is He who, coming after me, is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose.
28 These things were done in Bethabara[h] beyond the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
The Lamb of God
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is He of whom I said, After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me. 31 I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.
32 And John bore witness, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. 33 I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit. 34 And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.
The First Disciples
35 Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples. 36 And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, Behold the Lamb of God!
37 The two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. 38 Then Jesus turned, and seeing them following, said to them, What do you seek?
They said to Him, Rabbi (which is to say, when translated, Teacher), where are You staying?
39 He said to them, Come and see. They came and saw where He was staying, and remained with Him that day (now it was about the tenth hour).
40 One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peters brother. 41 He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, We have found the Messiah (which is translated, the Christ). 42 And he brought him to Jesus.
Now when Jesus looked at him, He said, You are Simon the son of Jonah.[i] You shall be called Cephas (which is translated, A Stone).
Philip and Nathanael
43 The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, Follow Me. 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wroteJesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
46 And Nathanael said to him, Can anything good come out of Nazareth?
Philip said to him, Come and see.
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!
48 Nathanael said to Him, How do You know me?
Jesus answered and said to him, Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.
49 Nathanael answered and said to Him, Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!
50 Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these. 51 And He said to him, Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter[j] you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.
So, now you hear what is christianity and FAITH in God Jesus.
I see that you love reading the Old Testament. That's why I offer you to read the words of God said about 500 years before the birth of Jesus on earth. Actually God shared His conversation with God Jesus:
Psalm 2
The Messiahs Triumph and Kingdom
1 Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
3 Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.
4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
6 Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.
7 I will declare the decree:
The LORD has said to Me,
You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
8 Ask of Me, and I will give You
The nations for Your inheritance,
And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
9 You shall break[a] them with a rod of iron;
You shall dash them to pieces like a potters vessel.
10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings;
Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear,
And rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son,[b] lest He[c] be angry,
And you perish in the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little.
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
Summary: you should repent of all your sins. Abandom them. Confess them to God in a prayer. And start believing in God Jesus because salvation is possible ONLY through FAITH in God Jesus and holy life when you will finally START walking with God.
Repent today and turn your heart to God Jesus because TODAY in the day of Salvation. Tomorrow you can be judged by God for your disbelief and immoral life.
All Christians have Idolatry issues sooner or later. For me it was having lots of sex with a lot of different women..porn, BUT I am much better having realized many things about those things, including repentance and the realization that those things were IDOLS to me. The TRINITY is an idol.
Jesus Christ was the son of God, a flesh and blood man, born of Mary, a virgin birth and according to the old Testament scripture, his walk was perfect with God.
My suggestion is that for those of you who steadfastly believe that Jesus Christ is God, well do stick to that belief, ground yourself in it firmly, write long winded posts, quote scripture, get a big tattoo on your neck "Jesus Christ is God", live every waking moment walking and talking about it...like totally take the plunge, get angry at me..if you want to curse at me..do that by email, please..I am not gona tell anyone...all I can do is laugh.
See, its a spiritual battle FOLKS..division is of who...right "the adversary".
