Bible Summary. Sin is any Thought or Action that is against God. When we are in sin we are not in relationship with God. Confessing the sins in our lives is a first step in being reconciled back to God. God, because of His righteous nature, cannot be in the presence of our sinful disobedience. In fact from God's perspective, sin must be destroyed. At the same time God, because of His loving nature, loves all of mankind even though they are in sin. To reestablish a loving relationship with mankind, Jesus Christ paid the price on the cross for mankind's sin. All that is required for a person to receive this free gift of salvation from sin is to �Confess� their sins and Accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. What Is Sin And Why Does God Want Us To Confess Sins?

God Will Not Have a Relationship With Us Unless We Confess Sins.
Whether we know it or not, we are suppose to be in a loving relationship with God. When we are not, we have broken our relationship with Him. Our Disobedience to God, our Creator, is a SIN. Only when we Acknowledge Our Offenses toward God can Our Relationship with God be Restored.
Hosea 5:15 �I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.� ***This advises us that God will not have a relationship with us without a confession of our sins.�
God's Free Gift to Us Saves Us From the Consequences of Our Sin.
Because of God's righteousness nature, He must Destroy and Punish Sin. Because of God's love, Christ Jesus paid the price on the cross for our sinful disobedience. Jesus' act on the cross is God's free gift to mankind. All We Must DO is �Confess� and �Believe.� This loving act enable mankind to be justified and in good standing with God.
Romans 5:16 �And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. ***This advises us on God's free gift of salvation from sin.�
We Confess Sins and Accept Jesus Christ as Our Lord and Savior.
If we Confess our Sins and Acknowledge Jesus as our Lord and Savior, WE Will Be Saved from the Consequences of Our Sins. We will be in Fellowship with God and have Eternal Life.
1 John 4:15 �Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.� *** This advises us to confess that Jesus is the Son of God.�
Cleanse Us From Our Sin and All Unrighteousness.
God Desires and Requires that We Confess Sins and Our Sin Nature. He Requires that We Confess that Jesus Christ's Action on the Cross enable God to Forgive our sins and Cleanse us from ALL Unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 �If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. *** This advises us on confession and God cleansing us from all unrighteousness.�

It is often confused the difference between relationship and fellowship.
Relationship is what we possess when we are born again and become a son or daughter.
Fellowship is what we happens between God and man after the new birth, it is a matter of us fulfilling our part of the covenant. We are to walk in the light of the word of God, we are to be doers of the word and not hearers only. 1st john illustrates fellowship and when one disobeys the word they will wall into darkness and it requires us to confess our sin and then we are back in the light.
It is a true statement that, Jesus is lord.
It is not a true statement that Jesus is lord of all.
I pray for you, may God Himself open your eyes of understanding into His holy word and grant you His spiritual knowledge , wisdom and understanding of His holy word. I'm really sadden by your commenst of disbelief yet you confess that you have such a close personal relationshio with Jesus Christ, but you really don't have a clue within your inner man. You point out in First John, The word says, God is light, and there is NO darkness in Him a person cannot claim to have a right standing relationship with Jesus Christ/God and walk in darkness at the same time as Jude points out. To walk in fellowship with God in His light is to be in right standing or right relationship with Him free from the bondage of sin.
If we wlak in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship(right relationship) one with anohter, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanse us from ALL SIN... the blood put us in the right relationship with God. You cannot even have a relationship with a chkd and not have fellowship with him/her in some manner or another. When there is no fellowship, there is no relationship.

Ellas said: Here PJ, you are so right on the money, NOT ALL(meaning everyone) call Him Lord, or see as as Lord of their life. And not ALL see Jesus Chirst as being Lord over ALL things as God has so placed Him.
But there is no dbout that Jesus Chirst is Lord of ALL, and Lord over ALL(everything and everybody) whtehr ppople receive this truth or not.
Definition: Fellowship between God and the believer and another means a close relationship, mutal acceptance of, and submission to the verities of Christian faith. Sharing in personal knowledge of and hearfelt obedience to God through Jesus Christ.
By definiton alone let us know you cannot be out of fellowship with God and think you still have a relationship with Him...
