I feel a little *crazy* asking this, but it's something that I've been chewing on for awhile and still haven't reached a definite conclusion about.
It all started with the Twilight craze. I live about 1/2way between Seattle and Forks (where Twilight was filmed), so it's this totally crazy thing out here. Anyway, so A LOT of people around here are convinced that vampires are real. At first, I thought that the idea had no merit to it, but, the more I thought about it, I started to wonder if there could be vampires... more specifically, if demons could take the form of creatures such a vampires.
Biblically, do you think that there is any (strong) evidence that this could be the case?
I would love to hear everyone's thoughts because it's a question that comes up a lot where I live, and I feel like I don't have as good of a grasp as I would like on the issue. When people start to talk about vampires being real and glorifying them, I'd like to be able to respond more definitively.
such yhimgs are part of the occult and should not be watched on TV and dabbled with. Christians must look to the word for their answers not fantasy stories. Dennis
Do you think it's right or wrong to be interested in and/or read astrological things? Why?
This is a post you asked about in the morals section Pixy. Why do you ask about things of the occult. We are to follow Jesus and not be concerned about these things.
I ask because people ask, and, as a Christian, I want to be able to offer a well-informed answer. I know the occult is wrong; that's not what I'm asking. If a non-Christian acquaintance poses the idea the vampires could be real, saying, "The occult is wrong" doesn't answer the question. When someone here is glorifying vampires and I've attempted to say that they're not real, I'm immediately asked, "How do you know?" That leads to thinking that I don't really know. And so, what I've been trying to work out is whether there is any strong Biblical support for the idea that demons could take on the form of vampires.
Like I said in my initial post, I know it sounds like a weird question, but it's something that comes up a lot. I believe that we should be prepared to account for our faith at all times, and part of that is being able to Biblically answer the questions that people approach me with.
As far as the astrology topic goes, I asked because I was genuinely curious what Christian. As I may have stated on the topic (it was months ago!), I think that the practice of astrology is Biblical. It's false to present my post outside of that context. I've known a lot of Christians in my life who do practice astrology, and I was hoping to get some more insight into that. Sometimes, when we understand WHY people do something, then we're better prepared to respond to it.
I think that the practice of astrology is NOT Biblical, not that it is Biblical. The Bible speaks out very clearly against it!
I've gone back to review the astrology topic and can see that I didn't provide any follow-up responses to address the concerns that came up on the topic. That was due to the fact that I was absent from CDFF between January 1 and January 12, due to a death in the family on January 1 and a medical issue of my own. I will gladly repost the topic so that we can re-discuss, rather than hijacking this thread with a discussion on a topic from 6 months ago. Had this been brought to my attention sooner, I would have gladly reposted the topic at that time.
