Hello everyone:

In this Scripture,who is Christ answering a believers prayer/request for.

The answer is in verse 13

John 14:12 `Verily, verily, I say to you, he who is believing in me, the works that I do--that one also shall do, and greater than these he shall do, because I go on to my Father;

John 14:13 and whatever ye may ask in my name, I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son;

John 14:14 if ye ask anything in my name I will do it .

Aloha

This is not a prayer teaching Christians do not pray to Jesus.

What ever you command or demand in my name I will do it for you.

I think a good thing to discuss is: What does it really mean to 'ask in his name'

Yes, you did!

How can I say this?

I don't believe specific names hold magical or spiritual powers, I know many people do and I don't intentionally want to step on any toes. However it is the reality of what the name signifies which holds and wields the real power, more precisely who the name signifies, after all when you pray in Jesus name you don't mean some little kid in Mexico.

Hey sparrow:

Most people use Christs name as a security blanket.

I had better say 'In Jesus' name or i won't get what i asked for.

To be praying in the names of Christ found throughout the Old Covenant,

I would be praying with understanding of who He is,and what He is like.

I would be praying being under the authority in His name.

I would see that i happen to be a beggar before ABBA,and He is my benevolent Father.

The context is not about prayer, or being religious.

@Phillip:

Hey phil,seeing that you are such a Biblcally literate man,

just do not put your two cents into the conversation.

Add three more cents and make a nickel.

Two word within these three sentences are 'Ask and Name'

Now break thess verses down and give us the health and wealth understanding about these verses.

Interesting question POIC, we have already touched on "name" but it never occurred to me to look at "ask"; it seemed self explanatory to me, however I do believe there are many wrong ways to ask and only a few right ways.to ask, but assume this to be obvious....maybe not?

PS.if you start a thread on the 'prosperity gospel'....I'm there!

You have to know Jesus Two to discuss prosperity.
