Your DeceasedPosted : 6 May, 2011 01:59 PMVery interesting post ,jude. I really haven't given it much thought . I've always said I didn't want to be cremated, but I'm not sure if God would care one way or the other. To the dust , this body will return anyway, right.? Curious to see what others think! |

Your DeceasedPosted : 6 May, 2011 03:55 PMI'm kinda hoping I can be used for spare parts to keep someone else running, so cremation is probably out. |

Your DeceasedPosted : 6 May, 2011 04:40 PMI'm a donor as well, and I too will be cremated. I don't think it matters to the Lord whether one is buried and decomposes in the ground or one is cremated and turned to ash. In 1 Corinthians 13, Paul talks about giving his body to be burned, which I assume he's speaking as a sacrifice, but if that's not a problem, then I don't see why cremation would be a problem. Our bodies are shells for our souls, which I believe go to be with the Lord when we die, so once we die our bodies are useless. And when the day comes that all those who died in Christ are called, God will raise us all up regardless of how our bodies were handled at death. |

Your DeceasedPosted : 7 May, 2011 08:57 AMI've wondered about this before too. Personally, I don't want to be cremated..at all! I don't really even want to be embalmed. I don't think it matters to God, because, as it's already been said, our bodies are just shells; we have no use for them once it's dead. I have told all my friends and family to donate whatever I have that's useful and I have absolutely no problem with that at all, but there just seems to be something wrong with the whole embalming/cremation process. In KY, if you bury someone within 24 hours of death, they don't have to be 'prepared' (nothing to do with Islam). That's what I'd like. Take what ya want, stick me in the ground, then have a huge celebration because I'm going home!!! :) (It's cheaper too! Haha!) |

Your DeceasedPosted : 7 May, 2011 09:02 AMOkay, how about mummified with your very own pyramid! Nah, just bury my discarded body with no coffin and plant a pine or redwood tree on top. |

Your DeceasedPosted : 7 May, 2011 02:01 PMI don't really want to be cremated, but I don't think there's necessarily anything morally wrong with it. I want to be buried, and I don't any part of the visitation/viewing or funeral to be "open coffin" because I don't want people to be left with an image of my dead body...I'll be very much alive up in Heaven, and will be worshiping my Savior! (If my family wishes to view my body, that would be ok, since it could give them closure.) |
