THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BROKEN HEART!

Ok, let's get down to business, church business..

For many years I have heard nonsense being offered as wise counsel. Such is that of a BROKEN HEART..

Where did this come from..?

The term BROKEN HEART refers to the physical pain or discomfort in the Thoracic Cavity that is often associated with a loss or a tragic circumstance. Because of erroneous thinking, and warped religious philosophies, we tend to associate our emotional feelings with our physical heart, and therefore we think that the discomfort/pain with the emotional loss and we get "heartache" or "heartbroken."

Although some pain is psychological, there are also physical symptoms as well, but not from the heart, but the emotions.

In extreme circumstances there is an actual physical condition called Stress Cardiomyopathy, which can be triggered by a severe emotional incident. It has been known to feel like a heart-ache. Those who have experienced it, usually recover from it quickly.

I really have no idea what this guy is trying to prove, but I think he has a martyr complex. In any case, I wish the the admins would throw him off for the multiple insults he has thrown at people.

River,

Yes, it's true. You can do a search and find it. I remember one specific case a man had lost his wife and doc diagnosed him with broken heart syndrome. Mayo clinic in Minnesota has info on it.

Very good answers from scripture, medicine and common sense, people. :applause:

Okay, let's get down to reality here, there is no way a person at the foot of the same Cross that I am at~ can have a name like "propheticcalling" and not be biblically prophetic or accurate in all of his "prophetic" declarations. That is called an "oxymoron".

Heart rate increases and decreases along with large blood pressure swings, temperature rises and falls. Breakouts of sweat, irregular sleep, anxiety and pain mainly (for me) on the left side of the chest.

Symptoms are similar to those that suffer from withdrawl from heavy drugs.

Love affects the same part of the brain as drugs and is a drug of sorts.

Emotional triggers can set symptoms off at any time until not broken hearted anymore.

The body then has to recover from being in a constantly overstressed state which in itself causes more stress.

Symptoms of emotional loss are worst as we age due to certain chemicals in the brain that give us a sense of well being not being produced at the same rate as when we are younger.

That is why older people are more likely to be come drug addicts or alcoholics than those younger, it is offset by the fact that older people are generally more sensible in the first place.

Wow.... I don't know PC but I always try things by the spirit. I wonder if you all who are responding are saying that depression and loneliness are directly from the heart (physical or metaphorically)? The reason why is... the bible says that we should renew our hearts daily and we should not live in depression. So...do assume that Christ does or does not give us power over things? I'm not judging anyone's comments or suggestions. Just trying to hear what is being said. I notice that when you are explaining to a child (not an age reference) what they are experiencing, you may say your heart is broken. It's easier for them to comprehend. But, if you tell a mature Christian that, does it handicap them to accept that their heart is broken?

I notice that there are some sharp tongues on this post. Please don't cut me...
