Before I answer this question, I'm going to say that I believe there are Catholics who are born again. Our salvation is not dependent on denomination, but on who we place our trust in. Thus someone whose Catholic and has accepted Christ as savior is saved. That being said, lets go on to your question.

The Bible says to not be unequally yoked, meaning Christians should not marry Non-Christians. God gives us this rule as a protection from the strife that will occur, not to mention how easily it would be to slip and fall into sin.

This however, can also apply not to just Christian/Non-Christian relationships, but also to those with different Christian beliefs. You have to consider, if you are planning on having children, how you intend on raising them. What set of beliefs are you planning on teaching them? Not only that, but would you feel comfortable going to a church of a different denomination. If you do not agree with the doctrine that the Catholic church teaches, then I would suggest not to date someone who's Catholic.

Nicely said Cattywampus!

I would agree entirely. God does not acknowledge mans doctrines or the names we've chosen to set ourselves apart from our other brothers and sisters in Christ.

What He does acknowledge is someone's personal relationship and salvation gained through His Son, Jesus Christ.

It really depends on what they believe as an individual apart from their church, but if you asked me if I would date and/or marry a catholic man, I would say 'no' with an exclamation mark, unless the Lord changes my heart on the subject.

If you need to know why, I would tell you in private.

Just remember to approach with caution.

I dont think that there is really much difference between Lutherans and Catholics.

My mother's first cousin married a Catholic and he made her convert. When they came to her parents house for dinner, my great-aunt told them "there wont be any hail Mary's said at my table".

There's more than the "image" thing that seperates us. Getting forgivenes from a priest, praying the "saints", the use of talismans, "forgiving" people of their sins after death, giving donations to the Catholic church to buy a loved ones way out of hell, just to name a few.

My answer to the orignal poster would be, probably not, but with God all things are possible.

My family is in this country due to Catholic and protestant strains. I'm not sure where I stand on the subject as a whole, but I would decide on an individual basis. Besides, its not really up to me. It would be nice to marry a Catholic, but God hasn't told me yet.
