Date/marry someone in a wheel chair? Why or why not? It'd be a problem for me personally. It'd just make everything harder.

I won't say that I absolutely wouldn't date/marry someone in a wheelchair, but God would really have to slap me up 'side the head and say "DO IT!" From what I've seen of marriages like that, the non-handicapped person has some very, VERY special character traits...traits that I do not have.

I agree with pianogal. It would take a very special and commited person who could take on a relationship with an individual who was confined to a wheelchair. But God has many special and commited children and with Him in the mix anything could be possible. If it was a match that He had destined to be together, it probably wouldn't be as hard to adjust as we think it might be.

It would depend on a lot of things.

I met a couple once, years ago. She had been in a skiing accident and was paralyzed -- I think from the hips down. Her husband, when he first met her, was facinated with her wheelchair (she has a fancy one) and asked to try it out. From the beginning he was totally ok with her being in a wheelchair and never let it be an issue between them. They had a real sweet relationship.

Honestly, I can't answer that question. I would like to think that I would give someone in a wheelchair a chance, but unless I was put in that position, don't know.

However if we had been dating before he was in a wheelchair, it would not be a deal breaker for me, unless he became bitter.

And with marriage, well the vows says for better or worse.

Yes if this was the man God has chosen me for.

I answer so candidly because of where I have been. The first man I was married to was crippled after we were married. He became bitter and angry with some abuse thrown in, I stayed until my life was endangered for the last time. I filed for separation and he divorced me.

Would I date just anyone in a wheelchair? Of course not. But would I let a wheelchair stop me from dating a girl I was interested in? Not at all.

I actually met a girl in a wheelchair who is one of my favorite people in the world. If God hadn't pretty clearly told me not to date her, I absolutely would have.

Yes, I would. If he loved God, loved me, and loved life, and made me laugh.

Finding the right person, is sooo hard these days, so if you meet someone with the qualities that you love, and they love you , make you happy, help you grow spiritually, and are there through thick and thin, then being in a wheelchair, or of another race, or older, younger, larger, smaller, etc, wouldnt matter.

One of my closest friends met a woman 13 yrs older than him when he was young, late teens. They are now married over 25 yrs, and have one of the best marriages I know.
