"If you love someone...let them go. If they return...then its meant to be." Something like that...anyway..how true is it? How often does this really happen?

If someone wanted to go, wouldn't that mean they didn't love you? And you wouldn't want them to stay anyway?

Teach a horse to walk on a loose rein and they will want to stay with you.

Constantly hold a horse back on a tight rein and all they want to do is go.

I correlate that to my pets. They live outside. Any time they choose, they may leave. Actually, they have done so. One took off for close to 6 weeks. Then, he decided it was time to come home. I was quite worried, but even after the little critter decided to come home, I chose not to cage him. He is still free to roam as he wishes. He wishes to stay with me.

Why would I want any less from a man? If he does not wish to stay, there is the door. Why would I try and keep him tied to me if he wants to be gone?

Don't hold someone so close you crush them. However, I find the idea of a guy sitting around waiting to see if a girl will come back for him while she's off dating other guys to be ridiculous. If we're no long official, we're no longer official, and if she's going to date other men, I'm going to date other women. I'm not gonna wait around and be your back up plan while you try to find a guy you like better than me.

It's pretty darn true. I believe it.

And Tulip that's the story of the cat. If you chase a cat you'll never catch it. But if you do what you will with confidence it may follow.

Tulip,

Letting someone go doesn't mean you're sitting around waiting for them to come back. It just means letting them go. In fact, dating other people may in fact be what draws them back.

Exactly. Which is why when she tries to make you jealous, just talk to any and every women you can find that you want to talk to. Sorry, I'm just such a huge believer in that too. It's a great reality check and fun cuz it's empowering.

So before anybody gets their fur up or their feathers in a knot.....I am in this with the rest.

Anyoldwho......thinking we need a dating and pets section. Or I suppose it could be courting and critters (gotta love alliteration). The analogies have been delightful and spot on.

I let mine go and she never came back; and I was Sure she loved me.

Maybe she met a male cheerleader she just couldn't resist!
