Big ceremony vs Small ceremony vs Just elopingPosted : 29 Dec, 2010 02:16 PMI wasn't sure where else to put this. Because I figured everyone would have an opinion and I was curious to see what thoughts were! |

Big ceremony vs Small ceremony vs Just elopingPosted : 29 Dec, 2010 03:15 PMYeah, I don't know what is up with weddings. Ironically, sometimes weddings seem to be a huge obstacle to getting married..which seems backwards. |

Big ceremony vs Small ceremony vs Just elopingPosted : 29 Dec, 2010 06:34 PMI already had the big church wedding with the long white dress, reception, etc. etc. I don't need another one. My plan (God willing) for the next time is to have the smallest number of people attend (I have a big family) a small service in a chapel with stained glass windows. Afterwards, everyone goes out to lunch. Then, the bride and groom take off for the honeymoon. Cruise? Nice hotel somewhere? Disneyland? Bahamas? Mexico? I don't know and I don't care. The important part is the ceremony. If my family/friends so choose, we can have a big reception/party when we return from the honeymoon. |

Big ceremony vs Small ceremony vs Just elopingPosted : 29 Dec, 2010 06:55 PMI'd like a small ceremony. Something simple yet charming, beautiful but not ornate, something where the vows don't get lost in gaudy materialism. |

Big ceremony vs Small ceremony vs Just elopingPosted : 29 Dec, 2010 07:45 PMReason number #37 why I will probably never get married. The wedding has to come in under a $1,000. Hey what can I say, I'm poor and cheap. lol |

Big ceremony vs Small ceremony vs Just elopingPosted : 29 Dec, 2010 08:08 PMSomething small, just my kids and his if he has any. A few friends. Laid-back, casual, outdoors. A barbecue and party afterward. Not stressed out about dresses and flowers and caterers and whether everyone's having fun. Just relaxing and celebrating the start of this new life. |

Big ceremony vs Small ceremony vs Just elopingPosted : 1 Jan, 2011 01:36 AMI have gone back and forth on this in my mind many times, between wanting a small ceremony or a big ceremony. I am pretty sure I want to have a big ceremony. My reason is this: there are alot of people that have poured into my life, encouraging me, challenging me, influencing me and I would not be where I am without any of them. When I think about getting married and not being able to share it with them because I didn't invite them it kills me. If I have a small wedding because the people can't make it I am OK with that, and I know many people probably will not be able to come because all of the people are almost evenly split between Michigan and Nebraska. I know a few people that can make the dresses for very cheap as long as the fabric is provided. When my best friend got married she had a potluck reception and I think it worked out well for her. I don't know what her wedding budget looked like, but she had a huge wedding under $1000! |

Big ceremony vs Small ceremony vs Just elopingPosted : 1 Jan, 2011 09:22 AMI want a simple ceremony and reception, but I want as many people to come as want to. It'll be an open invitation to my church, his church (if we go to different churches), and I'll send out individual invitations to friends, family, etc. For the reception, I just want to have cake, nuts, mints, punch, and maybe a fruit tray or veggie tray depending on how the budget is holding out. I'm a simple and uncomplicated person, and I want my wedding to reflect that. |
