Yeah, we need to be as close to completely secure in Christ as we can be before we start getting into relationships. Otherwise we'll end up trying to get them to be Christ for us. Some guys here might be up for that, but speaking for myself, I'm no Jesus.

Pretty dang important it you plan on marrying a ex- call girl or ex- chippendale dancer (don't worry ladies, I am secure in Christ) :laugh:

Seriously though if you are going to get serious with a person who has come out of serious sin (wow sure used that word alot...seriously) you are going to want to know for real that their relationship with Jesus is for real. Especially where there has been past substance or alcohol abuse.

On a lighter lighter note: Jesus is the perfect example of true love. People with a real relationship with Jesus know how to receive love, give love, practice love and live love. Wow you would think the world would be knocking down our door to be with a real Christian !....except they are blind.

You know the scriptures surely;

God demonstrates his own love for us....hile we were is yet sinners Christ died for us

and

The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

To answer your question ; A secure relationship with Jesus is a " must have" ; it is a deal breaker!

Exactly. If both people aren't anchored firmly in Christ, the storms of life are just going to knock them over.

I agree with the 2 guys,It is a must.We can't build a good relationship if we are not secured with God.It's like we can't fix a broken relationship if we are not at peace with HIM..I hope I made sense...

The believer's security is of chief concern to the Lord. He was so concerned, that before He created the world, He predestined us to be conformed to the image of His son. He set His angels over us and ordained our steps, which is why the scriptures state,

"NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST YOU SHALL PROSPER!" [Isaiah 54:17]

and,

"THE STEPS OF A GOOD MAN ARE ORDERED OF THE LORD, AND HE DELIGHTS IN HIS WAY!" [Psalm 37:23]

and,

"MANY ARE THE AFFLICTIONS OF THE RIGHTEOUS, BUT THE LORD DELIVERS HIM OUT OF THEM ALL!" [Psalm 34:19]

and,

"I KNOW THAT YOU ARE PLEASED WITH ME, FOR MY ENEMY DOES NOT TRIUMPH OVER ME!" [Psalm 41:11]

and,

"HE SHALL GIVE HIS ANGELS CHARGE OVER THEE TO KEEP THEE IN ALL THY WAYS!" [Ps 91:11]

These are eternal promises, and they are not contingent upon your detecting that evil is near unto you! He is your Shepherd, and loves you.

And one more thing. The Word has amazing security to provide to the Child of God, if you properly comprehend its amazing powers..

For example, if someone says that they love the Lord, and never speak of His word, and it is not in their mouths, you can bet the farm, that there is something wrong..

@pc

Thank you! The Word of God is really our rock and fortress.

It's never too much to be reminded about it.
