I was in Meijar's recently and found socks made in the USA.The brand name is Dickes. They cost more and are thicker than those items made in Asia.You also get 2 pair instead of 4 or 6 pair. However, quality means a lot.
I have noticed that a lot of towels are made in Pakistan. Is buying them fiancing terrerism? many such companies over there donate to Bin laden. Are you buying such items and saying you support your kids fighting against Bin laden?

You make an excellent point. We have exported so much of our labor to China (which means that we have workers here going without jobs) that China has become "rich". So rich in fact that they can lend us money (with interest) so we can "waste" it on Pork Projects like Bullet Trains to Las Vegas (Barney Franks pet project).
Buy American is just part of it. We need to (in November) vote out all of those that voted for this Helath Insurance Bill.
This country has needed a reformed health care system. This new bill that has been "Rammed" down our throats by "illegal" and "outrageous" means is not what we need or want!! The healthcare industry is one-sixth of the businesses in this country...and now the government will be in control of it!! Think back to everything that the government has gotten control over and to what the result was...DIsaster!!
While there are some good things in this bill (things that really are needed and that have been proposed before) -- there is also quite a lot of "Pork Fat" added to it by Democrats that want to get themselves or their "cronies" rich.
To begin with, the "cost" is suppose to be around One Trillion DOLLARS! WE all know that means it will end up costing THREE TRILLION DOLLARS!!! They are already in the process of hiring 1600 new IRS agents to run the tracking of who has and who does not have health insurance ($750.00 fine if you don't get health insurance). Over 150 new offices with their "staffs" and this is just THE BEGINING!!
Folks...the ultimate goal of the Elitist Democrats is to run many of the insurance companies out of business, so that the government will have to take over that industry and be The SOLE Provider of health Insurance (IE. Public Option).
Your taxes will have to go up. While services (health care) will diminish and take much longer. Many Doctors will retire (rather than work for such little compensation) and more "foreign" doctors will take their places.
The eventual goal of these Democrats is to make us a Socialist society (communist), where we are totally dependent on government for everything.
Within the next few months they will force through other bills:
Such as Immigration Reform -- where an estimated 30 million illegal Mexicans will be made legally citizens -- just like that "sign here and vote Democrats next election".
Legalized Abortion available at every Hospital and paid by all of us.
National Bill mandating that Gays be allowed to marry in any church they desire. If a church refuses, they lose their 301c exemption.
Folks...countries like Poland were taken over in just such a manner. If this is not stopped NoW, it will get to a point where it will be too late to do anything PEACEFULLY!!!
This NOVEMBER we have to send congress a Loud Message!! WE will not Accept this kind of behavior anymore!!
Democrat or Republican...it does not matter. If their record of voting shows a lack of respect for those that voted them into office...VOTE THEM OUT!!
Please...please...PLEASE scrutinize the available candidates! Learn as much as you can about them. Vote wisely, but vote.

Seriously, all that you said is SO true and SO scary. It makes me wonder what kind of country my children and grandchildren will live in...if the USA is even still around at that point.
They want us to become like European countries. Where the people are dependent on their government for everything and the seperation between the rich and the poor is enormous. There is no Middle Class in European countries. Soon there will be no Middle Class here!
You watch...they will impose a VAT (Value Added Tax) of around 17% (which is what most European countries have). This is a tax on top of every other tax. So when you buy an item at the store you will pay an additional 17% to our government (to pay for abortion...unwed mothers...healthcare for illegal aliens and new cars every three years for our representatives in congress).
Most of the "good" things in this bill will happen "up front" (meaning in the first few months), while the "bad...wasteful" stuff will happen after the mid-term elections.
If we VOTE them out in November we will still not have a majority (to be "veto proof"), but we will be able to hinder the "bad" parts of this bill...until the 2012 election.
Folks...no president has ever spent so much money that WE DON"T HAVE...as this one. In just the first 6 months he has Borrowed more than the previous 30 YEARS!!
Our government is broke and broken and we will have to "tighten our belts" and suffer...in order to regain what we have had "Taken" away from us.

I HAVE DECIDED TO BECOME A WRITE-IN CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT IN THE YEAR 2012...
HERE IS MY PLATFORM:
(1). Any use of the phrase: 'Press 1 for English' is immediately banned. English is the official language; speak it or wait outside of our borders until you can.
(2). We will immediately go into a two year isolationist attitude in order to straighten out the greedy big business posture in this country. America will allow NO imports, and we'll do no exports. We will use the 'Wal-Mart 's policy, 'If we ain't got it, you don't need it.' We'll make it here and sell it here!
(3). When imports are allowed, there will be a 100% import tax on it coming in here.
(4). All retired military personnel will be required to man one of the many observation towers located on the southern border of the United States (six month tour). They will be under strict orders not to fire on SOUTHBOUND aliens.
(5). Social Security will immediately return to its original state. If you didn't put nuttin in, you ain't gettin nuttin out. Neither the President nor any other politician will be able to touch it.
(6). Welfare. -- Checks will be handed out on Fridays, at the end of the 40 hour school week, the successful completion of a urinalysis test for drugs, and passing grades.
(7). Professional Athletes -- Steroids? The FIRST time you check positive you're banned from sports ... for life.
(8). Crime -- We will adopt the Turkish method, i.e., the first time you steal, you lose your right hand. There is no more 'life sentences'. If convicted of murder, you will be put to death by the same method you chose for the victim you killed: gun, knife, strangulation, etc.
(9). One export of ours will be allowed: wheat; because the world needs to eat. However, a bushel of wheat will be the exact price of a barrel of oil.
(10). All foreign aid, using American taxpayer money, will immediately cease and the saved money will help to pay off the national debt and, ultimately, lower taxes. When disasters occur around the world, we'll ask The American People if they want to donate to a disaster fund, and each citizen can make the decision as to whether, or not, it's a worthy cause.
(11). The Pledge of Allegiance will be said every day at school and every day in Congress.
(12). The National Anthem will be played at all appropriate ceremonies, sporting events, outings, etc.

I will admit Obama deceived me.I was disappointed in the republician party and voted for many in the other. However, what choice did I have.All the ohio republicians were stealing from the state workmans comp fund and accepting bribes.Which really ticked me off. In thos 2010 election I will examine who is running.
We have to be very careful of who we are going to vote in next election.
Although I voted McCain he is not much different than Obama. He would have brought us to the same place but it would have taken longer. He was for abortion, he was for a government health care program.
Both the Democrats and the Republicans are trying to create big government at this point. We need to send them a clear message that the status quo is no longer acceptable.
Next election I will start looking at the other parties and stop compromising for the lesser of two evils.
