TALKING TO KIDS ABOUT DATING

Friends how do you deal with you teenagers about the dating game.

Do you have children getting close to that age? What values do you want them to have?I who have no kids and can only speak as if I did.

A friend at the last church I went to did this for his daughter. He would have the guy come into the room he was in and say, (while cleaning his shot gun) " I would be very upset if something happened to me little girl." The young lady would go to her room crying. One guy kept on coming back.Her future husband. :ROFL:

This father really did this thing. It gets rid of all the bad boys.

I said something about this in speech class last semester and all of the young girls got all worked up. :nahnah: I guess I started something.

Do you believe this is a John Wayne mentality?

Maybe Client Eastwood?

I offer the ladies here no excuses as I would do this to my daughter if I had one. Even if it was you. :bow: :prayingf: :prayingm: :nicenurse:

Love papa Dennis? ????????????

Hehe! I kinda like the shotgun idea...I can see where that would work wonders in a relationship.

I don't have kids (obviously), and I never really remember my parents talking to me about dating. I think they probably told me that I wasn't allowed to date until I was out of high school, or something along those lines...I was homeschooled, so it didn't make much different to me. My friends weren't into dating, and boys weren't exactly beating down the door to ask me out. It turned out that I never did date anyone, not even through 5 years of undergrad college and 2 years of grad school. The guy I'm dating now is my first ever...and I'm the first girl he's dated! (I guess I kinda strayed off-topic, didn't I?)

I remember just one time when my daughter's "date" picked her up at the house. I talked with him for a while on the porch and asked him the questions about where he goes to church, the pastor's name, the time she should be home, being careful... of course my daughter hated it and so did he. OH WELL!

DG, love your idea better!!:applause:

I had my son write...

...out a contract -- declaring his actions as to the pertain to dating. Things such as:

* Drinking alcohol

* Riding with someone that was drinking

* Treatment of his date

And so on. We would sit down and go over it and I would make suggestions and finally he had it completed. He was fifteen years old at that time and I was very impressed at what he had written. He had virtually everything covered.

Before he signed it I told him to make sure that he felt that he could abide by this contract and that he understood the consequences if he ever broke this agreement? He said yes and then we went and had it notarized.

He was so proud of this contract. He felt so much like an adult.

For almost two years he did not break his agreement. When he did break it (alcohol) marriage was quite tense and I felt he just succumbed to the pressue but I think that writing a contract with your kids is a good idea.
