Do some of you think that some of the dating ads have gotten out of control lately?Do you think we should send a nice letter to the CDFF site owners? I have noticed the ads having chritian women in worldly pictures.I am considering a nice letter asking them to have a moral check. What are your thoughts?

Hello dgrimater -

I've had an ad/porn blocker for several months named "K9". Up till recently, I didn't see many ads on CDFF. I'm assuming my "K9" must have blocked them (?).

Then about 3 weeks ago I started getting a lot of the ads you're referring to. I wrote CDFF saying that I find them offensive and am sure others do too. I've asked several people about this, and they feel the same. I asked if they have written CDFF "just to let them know" and don't think any did.

A couple weeks ago I told some of my friends, "Either the ads go, or I go." I then managed to find something of a solution. I got "AdBlock Plus" and "Flashblock" which effectively block whatever ads I choose (requires Firefox browser).

While this is a solution of sorts, in that I no longer have to see the ads; I'm thinking, "If I'm on a site that has these kinds of ads, what will decent women think of me?" That is, when they come on the site, what will be their first impression of the kinds of men who come here? My guess is, their impression is "not very good."

I've explained this to friends I've written (both men and women) just to make it clear "I'm not that kind of guy."

Lastly, in my email to CDFF I mentioned that I realize they have to pay bills, and that I simply wanted to inform them that the ads are a real turnoff. Also, I don't know if CDFF is Christian-owned and operated. I doubt it is, but don't know for sure. This might be something to keep in mind if you write them.

Take care ~ Rick C.

I also use Firefox with the AdBlock add-on and I see no ads.

When an ad does make it through I can right click on it and block the picture or entire ad link.

I was kind of surprised when I saw the ad today of a woman wearing lingerie.

It is such a relief to hear of men standing on the side of righteousness.

Big pat on the back fellas!

I noticed that CDFF removed some of the female ads.

Updates Pertinent to the Thread (for Firefox users)

▬ If you have Yahoo Mail and/or Messenger - "Adblock Plus" can cause crashes (in FF or your computer)! My last computer crashed & burned and I got a new one - but didn't add Adbliock Plus. Further info here: http://adblockplus.org/en/changelog-0.7.2

▬ I added "Flashblock" (once again) which is working just fine to block ads I see right beside profile pictures and at the top and bottom of pages.

Other Considerations (for any browser user)

▬ "K9" Ad/Porn Blocker is not compatible with Norton Internet Security (from some articles I read). Thus, I haven't installed it on my new computer. Before you install it, check with if it would work with your security system.

Otherwise, I've also noticed the ads were "cleaned up" a bit. However, many were still very annoying! But I no longer see them - thanks to Firefox's "Flashblock" !!!

God bless you all!:bouncy:

Ooooops, the " &#9644 " were supposed to be dashes!

Alt + 22 makes them such - but, apparently, only in the chat rooms!

Almost forgot....

Firefox's latest browser (version 3.6.3) has a right-click feature that blocks ads also. It effectively does what "AdBlock Plus" did! *rick-out*
