Examples of Emotions:

Fear

Anger

Sadness

Joy

Love

Hate

Trust

Anticipation

Surprise

Emotions are essentially on a continuum, meaning they can be designated as positive or negative.

Love is a good example of an emotion that gets mis-characterized as being good no matter what... Love is love some will say... But what does God say about love?

Php 1:9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

Php 1:10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

God associates love, truth, and knowledge as being able to judge correctly because of your correct understanding. The more you know of the wisdom of God, the more you have the capacity to love righteously.

Some love kids, and want them to know God. A pedophile says he/she loves kids, and he/she wants to know them... Both are using the same emotion, however only one perspective is righteous...

Stand your emotions on truth, and then you may abound in them...

I used to believe that love couldn't possibly be bad, but I learned that focussed on the wrong thing or expressed in the wrong way it can cause a great deal of harm. This doesn't contradict God "being love" because like His anger, both are perfect in righteousness.

Thats the problem with what we as humans call love. We can say we love our spouse (or whoever) then turn around and say we love, pizza/cars/sports etc. If we dont turn to God then we never really know what love really is beyond a fleeting feeling.

Love is a choice as is its opposite, which is not hate at all but rather indifference...A man chooses to love as he chooses to hate...as for depression, well depression is a psychological premise most misunderstood by many and perhaps should be reconstructured as learned helplessness..as for the rest of what you call emotions they also can be examined from a number of distinct perspectives, yours being only one .anyway the point being that I do not think that you have given any serious consideration to posting this letter but have simply posted it for the sake of posting something

As for this being posted in this particular forum again I would encourage you to put it where it belongs and certainly not in a section that is ..Advice on Love and Dating.

You may not notice the relevance, but I assure you that relationships built on love require truth in order to be sustainable. This is the point. Emotions need to be grounded on truth.
