Waiting is not easy. Our nature is to fret and worry. Instead, God calls us to confidence and peace. Exactly how do we move from anxiety to peace during singleness? First, when you are tormented by loneliness, you need to review what you know to be true about God and then take your thoughts captive and make them submit to the truth.
God is in charge, He knows what Hes doing in your life, and you can trust that He has not lost control of your circumstances. Not only does God know what Hes doing, His plan for your life reflects both His all-surpassing wisdom and His fathomless love for you. His plan is good and right, and you can TRUST Him with the details of your life.
The mental battles we face when single are not specific to just single life. Many of our Christian sisters face similar emotional struggles with spouses, children, jobs, homes, cars, family relationships, and so forth. Even the struggle with loneliness will not be alleviated simply by a change in circumstances. Have you ever been in a relationship and still felt lonely? The godliest of spouses will not be able to satisfy the deep longing in your soul for relationship.
f you are in this stage of life, I am so sorry for the loneliness you likely deal with most days of your life. Going to bed each evening and waking up each morning alone is a very hard thing. REST ASSURED, WE ARE NOT ALONE, God is always there , WITH US!!
Isaiah 30:18 (ESV) 18Therefore the LORD waits to be gracious to you,and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the LORD is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.
Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Lamentations 3:25 The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.
Psalm 40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me and heard my cry.
Psalm 37:7 Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!
I often remind myself of this Holy Scripture, Hebrews 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. ..Truly its not what most of us are quick to desire. Its what most of us need to learn.
Hebrews 5:7 - During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
Hebrews 5:8 - though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered.
I must say I coudnt agree more with what you quoted above "God has been patient with us too"....Its only kind if we are patient with him too, and beyond guessing, his silent work in us, though time consuming, but always never wrong. It makes us the better....
Philippians 3:10 (New International Version (1984)) "I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death".....I can imagine Paul here, yearning to know suffering....not too many believers these days, yearns for suffering!
One fruit of the spirit is LONG-SUFFERING
Galatians 5:22 -
American Standard Version - "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, LONG SUFFERING, kindness, goodness, faithfulness"
New American Standard Bible (1995) - "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness"
King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.) - "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith"
@IamGodsPrincess, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! There is nothing wrong with that statement. I am in full agreement with you. Maybe it was a mis-read. Its a positional truth that "God has been patience with us TOO". Its a grand truth and nothing can be taken from it. I am not against it. Please read my comments again, you will see we strike same cord. Maybe you read me differently. I am in support of your fact.
James 1:2,3 Tells us God seeks to make us complete in patience.
Why patience and why are we complete in patience? Anxiety is the lack of faith and patience comes from trusting God.
I was recently asked to participate in building a showroom for the company I subcontract out of. I was told those who participate would be favored in work.
They also only want to pay a portion of what my skills were valued.
I did not feel this was right with such manipulation. I had a choice to do as they wished or seek God and see what His will was.
As God revealed truths like they really do not have the power to really fulfill any promise made or that I even had the ability to know if they were fulfilling it.
The reality that they were trying to create fear and anxiety in me to manipulate me.
God also showed me another truth that they needed help making this showroom. So how was I going to give without resentment?
How was I going to help without feeling taken advantage of?
How was I going to show them that I was a team player?
Well God gave me the answer. If they ask you to go one mile go with them two. By my choice I decided if they needed charity then I would give them charity completly.
By deciding to give without expecting anything in turn it cured me of anxiety and fear. It had given me freedom from manipulation.
You see we live in a world of you scratch my back and i will scratch yours. But not in the kingdom of God. In Gods kingdom He gave all.
Relationship is the same we expect in turn and become disapointed. We allow our own emotions to controll our decisions. This robs of us of the completion in patience.
Jesus tells about two houses one built on the rock and one built on the sand. The first stands where the second falls. Our emotions are sifting sand. Jesus is the rock.
Stand on a solid foundation and not your emotions and have peace and patience.
Hebrews 12:1 King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.) - Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with PATIENCE the race that is set before us,"
Undoubtedly and unarguably, PATIENCE is what God uses to freeze on us on the highways we had created for ourselves. Same PATIENCE is what he uses according to James 1:4 to PERFECT US.
James 1:4 - But let PATIENCE have her PERFECT work, that you may be PERFECT and entire, wanting nothing.
In the light of this scripture we can see proceeds of PATIENCE. ITS PERFECTION IN ITS ENTIRETY...MAY WE REMAIN REMINDED WHAT IT IS, ALBEIT PAINFUL BUT WONDERFUL AND THOROUGH WORKS PATIENCE WILL DO FOR US.
@Philipian Oh I read it again. Sometimes its hard for me to understand other words and misread it. I need to read over again so I can get the whole meaning. English is not my primary language and sometimes I messed upoh I just think that way but my friends say I speak well and fluently. (Well, theyre my friends so theyre on my side. lol) Thank God for the wisdom and the gift of study :glow:
Definitely! Patience and Anxiety are opposes of one another.
Wow that is most admirable trait - You are wonderful patient! You being patient overlook a multitude of manipulation. I have to ask myself how do I react when others manipulates me? Do I respond with humility, meekness and patience? (Col.3:12), or with intolerance To show mercy and kindness to those who exasperate or manipulates us is to gain such control over our souls this is the work of God.
We live in a world of SELFISHNESS. If you are kind, I will be kind to you if youre bad; I am worse than you. But In Gods kingdom TRUE LOVE RULES! You hate me? Thats okay I still love you
Right, when it comes to relationship we tend to expect more and then become disappointed at the end if we see ourselves waiting longer. WAITING IS NOT EASY. If were waiting for something, it seems like a waste of time, we think we are doing nothing. But waiting serves many purposes. In particular, it proves our faith. Those whose faith is weak are often the first to give up waiting, while those with the strongest faith are willing to wait indefinitely. If we are truly standing on a solid foundation which is Jesus our solid rock, we can assure that WAITING IS WORTH IT and in the process we learn COMPLETE PATIENCE.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His Word I do hope. Psalm 130:5
Many in the Bible come out of the act of waiting. Jacob waited 7 years for a wife and then worked 7 more after being tricked by her father. The Israelites waited 4 centuries for deliverance; Moses waited 4 decades for the call to lead them. These are the great example of showing PATIENCE.
Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31
