So what say you? do you think a long distance relationship can be real and really lead to the goal I hope a Christian is shooting for by courting /dating marriage? How long do you think is too long of a distance? Just want to see peoples general thoughts on the subject.

I've seen it work. I live in Kansas and a friend of mine who also lives in Kansas started a relationship with a woman from Sacramento CA. They talked on the phone everyday for 6-8 hours. They met a few times then got married. They have been happily married now for just over 3 years.

That being said, I don't think it would be for me. I prefer to spend time face to face with anyone I see as a potential life partner. I think it all depends on the people involved and couldn't see it for everyone.

i agree with the response given by critmusic that it depends on the people involved. I have also seen long distance relationships work exceedingly well with persons from different countries. Once you think that person is worth it then why not go the distance instead of settling for someone who is closer but may not fit the bill as well.

But again it all depends on you as an individual to know exactly what works and does not work for you.

It all depends on the intention of man or women who participate in CDFF.

Hope I can make long-distance relationship seriously with a man in this site, but it has not happened until now.

I don't know how high is the successful percentage for long distance relationship.

But I find it difficult because it involves expenses and time. I'm here morning and there is night. I can't jump into the commitment before seeing face to face.

I will say long distance relationship has harder way compared to the rest but I believe too the hardest you get, the more you appreaciate.

I'm still looking but yet to get one.

I have tried it a couple times and met some very nice people.

However, when it is very far apart (more than a couple hours drive) how can you start a friendship without the expectation of romance hanging over your heads? I've discovered that the expectation makes people act on their best behaviour, unintentionally, and that you never get a real flavour of who each other are.

And even if what is looks like upfront is exactly what you're looking for, changing towns/provinces/states/countries, leaving jobs and benefits, family and church family becomes inevitable in order to get to know each other for real - how they are in 'real time' not 'cucooned time' during everyday natural life stresses. You could do it for someone you already love, but just to find out if there is a possibility of love?... I don't know how that could work.

I believe a long distance relationship can work out if both of you are committed and put God first in everything...

I met my fiance on here and its been a year and two months and we are planning our wedding as i speak. To be honest, its not easy being in a long distance relationship...first of all, sacrifice is one of the most important aspects followed by trust, communication and God fearing comes top of the list...

My fiance and I are in different time zones when its day here, its night there but we have found a way of making it work for both of us, we make sacrifices when we have to communicate which is everyday...sometimes I go without sleep and it is all worth it for me...so does he sometimes....

He came down to see me and he met my family and i saw how he interacts with people in real life...but the most important aspect of all this is being God fearing and putting him first in whatever we do...We are very honest about everything and anything and i must say, its not always pretty and rosy but we always work through our differences and find good ground. We don't always agree on everything but we understand and respect each other's opinions..

I believe that God has a plan on how everyone will meet their spouse and sometimes it's not always the way we want it or how we imagined and hoped but all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord...

When i joined this site, I wanted to make friends and i was not specifically looking for anything but I met this man and he was wonderful, so I gave God a chance to work in my life in this unimaginable way and I am the happiest and most content woman...I am not saying that everyone has to meet someone the way I did but sometimes being open minded helps alot.

Love is the best thing that can happen to anyone and whenever you find and it is true, grab it and don't let go. Open yourself up to new things and get out of the comfort zone...You never know..

God bless you and I hope you find what you are looking for.

Ive seen it work. My uncle and aunt were from opposite sides of the planet. They have been married for almost 18 years now. Neither had the internet, voicechat, or webcams then. It took 2 weeks, each way, for their letters to travel.

I dont believe my uncle is long for this world. 2 years ago he had cancer. Last year, a heart attack and recently he had to have part of his stomach and intestines removed because of sepsis (sp?). He has been in the hospital for 6 weeks now and other family members have to almost pry my aunt away from his bedside. Yes, it can work.

Oh yes it can

I hv been in a long disance relationship with sm1 i met on here bout 2 yrs ago. I was very inexperienced with online dating and it was my first long distance relationship thats why it did not work out.

The guy was from Florida, a whole days flight away.

The important thing is to take things very slowly. Dont rush things cause u feel time is running out or that u need someone soon cause ure lonely, etc.

Its important to build trust so that u dont start getting insecure.
