If marriage is a Godly desire, won't God grant it?

Hi, I'm referring to this blog:

http://singlechristiangirlranting.blogspot.com/

You know the verse that says, "delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart"? Like what do you guys think it means? If your heart's desire is to be married, do you think that means just to trust in God and He'll provide it or are you more in line with this blogger?

I don't even really know what point the blogger was trying to make with that. Will God grant it? Only He knows. Which is just fine with me because then I would only superficially trust and obey Him in order to get what I want rather than being genuine and unconditional.

I think the verse means that the more one focuses on God the less one relies on himself to achieve things. The focus is on other people, lost souls and providing for others. If we look at the life of Christ, He was not looking at what he could get, but what he could do for others. It seems that if someone is not being selfish and looking out for number one, they are being conformed to the image of Christ. I think one gets to the point of being content in life, satisfied in God's provision. I believe the desire of marriage comes from God and when one reaches the contentment stage with God, a mate is provided.

This is my view.

A Godly desire is to see His will done - whatever that may be! Even Jesus had this battle in the garden the night he was betrayed. He wasn't desiring anything wrong (to avoid what was going to happen), yet even though He *could* have done something about it, He surrended Himself to the will of the Father. Now that's what get's me: with just a word His attackers would have fallen stone dead, yet even with that power He still chose the cross...

Sorry, going off at a tangent there (hard not to when I think of my saviour's love though!), but my point is, when you're truly delighting yourself in God, your will is aligned with His, and God will grant you whatever you need (that's need, not want), IYSWIM.

Marriage isn't guaranteed. That's like saying "If God wanted me to have money, wouldn't he just drop it in my lap?" God put Adam in the Garden to WORK the Garden (Genesis 2:15). While I'm not trying to put an emphasis on works, life has always been intended by God to be a cooperative effort- us working with God.

That said, if we want to be married, we have to put effort in (the same goes for staying married). We need to be on the look-out for potential marriage partners; we need to not be afraid to talk to people; we need to be bettering ourselves and working on our callings. If we keep on working at it, we have a good chance of bumping into someone, though it doesn't mean it will come immediately either. Some things just take time.

And, of course, depending on how things go, sometimes Satan can work to mess things up as well. Why do some Christians get cancer or get in car accidents? We live in a war-zone, and we need to keep that in mind. The devil is still out looking to steal, kill, and destroy. Sometimes he is able to mess up marriage situations. But thankfully, God is out to help us have life to the full, and God can accomplish more than the devil can.

So yea, a lot of reasons marriage may not just drop in our laps. But I think that if we keep pursuing that dream if we have it, that eventually we will bump into a suitable partner.

Well our desire should be for His will...so if it's His will to give you a wife, He'll grant it.
