I am wondering what people think about true love, selfless love, godly love.

What is it?

How do you know it?

How long should it take?

What does the Bible say about it?

Have you known it or seen it between others?

I am interested in seeing all the different angles you all come up with.

I had great examples of true, selfless, godly love in my life. My grand- parents were married for 52 years. Both have gone on to be with Jesus now, and if I find a love like those two shared, I will consider my wife and I both to be VERY blessed!:glow:

Thanks for the reply chevy.

That is sweet. I love it when I see elderly couples hobbling along, holding eachother's hands, and you can still see the love they have for eachother. It is truly a blessing.

I definitely agree with Chevy. True, selfless, godly love is most evident when seen in a couple who has weathered 50+ years of marriage and yet still acts like a newlywed couple. I've seen it a few times, and it's always so sweet!

I think that kind of love can also be seen in younger couples, though. Especially those who have gone through hard times together and made it through with God's help. Usually, there is a quiet solidness to the relationship, a sense that it would (not might, not could...WOULD) weather any storm because God is at its center.
