DISCLAIMER: This thread is NOT an attack towards those who have committed fornication in the past. If you have had premarital sex in the past but you've since repented from that and are now committing your life to sexual purity, then praise be to God and I tip my hat off to you for turning your life and morals around. With that being said.......

Most of the time I feel like I am alone in this world when it comes to this subject matter, but maybe I am wrong. I am 30 years old and never married and I'm still a virgin. I intend to stay that way until my wedding night (if God ever brings me a wife). I know I am doing the right thing, but it is extremely difficult and frustrating to say the least when you're my age and have yet to have sex in a world where the average human being loses their virginity at age 12 and people like me are considered to be "strange". The older I get, the more I find it hard to deal with all the garbage the world throws at me when it comes to sexual immorality, especially since I'm a technician at a local car dealer (a career field that has a high tendency to attract men who are among the biggest perverts in the world and love to fill their toolbox drawers with porn and talk about stuff like how they want to "bang" that hot customer with the nice body or go hang out at strip clubs, etc.). I have heard people say that "The 40 Year Old Virgin" is a funny movie, but to be honest, I don't think I will ever want to put any effort into watching that movie because I have a feeling that it's a slam against people like me. Are there any older virgins like myself that share my frustration or am I alone in this catagory?

its unfortunate that you would not want to quote Paul because you think he thinks less of women. You have a pride problem!

Allow me to offer a differing opinion that may ruffle some feathers. First let me say that DKJ255 I completely agree with you. Second pixie and soulovable I'm sorry for your experiences and I'm very glad you were able to forgive those of my gender for what a few did. To be honest in my mind that's a far more Christlike thing to do than 'wait for marriage' as you will see.

First let's consider what sex and marriage really are. Two people make a promise before God and a bunch of friends and family members never to part, if possible. Then they go and 'consummate' the marriage by having sex. If they decide to divorce before they have sex then poof the marriage is annulled and they are as though they never had the ceremony and made the promises to God and each other. Adam and Eve never had a ceremony. They definitely had sex though, so God recognized them as married.

Exod 22:16 And if anyone deceive a virgin that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her for a wife to himself. Exod 22:17 And if her father positively refuses, and will not consent to give her to him for a wife, he shall pay compensation to her father according to the amount of the dowry of virgins.

This passage in Exodus seems to indicate the same. God recognized them as married and compels the man who consummated marriage with the girl to take him as his wife, but provides a way out if the father would refuse to allow it. In that case he must monetarily compensate him. Culturally they were a far cry from our modern society, for instance considering polygamy moral and right.

Thus theologically we can arrive at the conclusion a marriage ceremony is superfluous, and any time a man has sex with a woman God recognizes them as married. Further this means I've been married and divorced four times. This further means the two girls who slept with another guy while they were engaged to me committed adultery, which Jesus allowed as a reason for a divorce. The other two divorces, we shared equally in the blame.

It is God will ,that we should contain ourselves before marriage , it is something I hold to and will continue till I get married , or my time on earth is over .

I think these virgins things have to do with cultures. It's not that hard to find older virgins (men and women) in Asian countries, since Christians in Asian countries also dealing with our own "Eastern cultures" which are too shy or taboo to talk and practice sex before marriage.
