Posted : 5 Jan, 2011 09:35 AM So a comment was made in another post about the dichotomy between the views of American women calling American men jerks and foreign women thinking American men are nice guys and treat women well compared to where they live. I have traveled and lived around the world and heard this more than once. A lot of foreign women think American men are nice. Yet so often we hear women here saying all men are jerks. Anyone have an explanation for the discrepancy? Post Reply

All nations have jerks and all nations have nice people. Americans may or may not be jerks. It depends on the individual. But we have a better chance of appearing as jerks becasue overall the American public is not aware of how other cultures operate, we only know about our own history, and don't understand others. Forgive me if I am blunt, but I work as a handyman service and deal with other cultures. We also for the most part only know our language which makes us appear self centered. Hope this helps.
