Parents' choice

There is a girl at my parents' church who my mom absolutely adores. I enjoy my time around her, but I never even really considered dating her since I live an hour away, and we maybe see each other once or twice a month. At a wedding we were both at last weekend, I had multiple people make comments about how they thought we would make a great couple, or wondering if there was something going on between us. My mom has told me several times that she thinks I need to date her.

Does anybody else have experience dating someone picked out by their parents? She checks off pretty much all the boxes on my checklist, but I think my main objection is that it just feels so... arranged.

Oh Tulip, you have no idea. I've ran across someone in the chat room who has 100 things on her list.

Oh, I've seen similar lists. 75 is about the longest I've ever seen. That girl was the same one who told me that she knew she couldn't marry her last boyfriend because he was only 6'1" and her husband was going to be 6'3"

I understand the whole, "I want to date someone taller than me" thing, but for a girl who is 5'6" to "need" a guy who is almost like 2 standard deviations above the mean for American males, that seems a little ridiculous.

My ex-mother-in-law suggested to my ex-brother-in-law that he should ask out the woman that became his wife and they have been married for at least 30 years!! You should ask her out!!

Well things just got more...interesting. Last night, a girl fb chatted me, and started talking about how much her best friend (a girl named Austin, who I know too) talked about me, how I should have gone to the corn maze (that I wasn't invited too, thank you very much!) they went to last night, that I needed to call her, etc. She then called me out for liking this girl, and told me that I needed to do something about it.

I used to have a huge crush on her, but she always seemed very disinterested in me, which caused me to give up on her. So unless her friend just thinks it's funny to tell guys that she likes them, I completely missed that she's into me. I only see her like 5 times a year though, so it's not like we get much time together. I literally have no idea how I feel about her still.

I feel like I live in a soap opera.....

Aw, Tulip...

Personally, I don't play the whole "so-and-so likes you" game, but then it's a bit different because I'm a girl maybe... If someone likes me, then he needs to speak up and not transmit messages through mutual friends.

Remember that it shouldn't be confusing and that God will give you wisdom and clarity if you ask.

And I feel like I live in a soap opera too! Or perhaps a Lifetime movie would be more accurate =( I'm ready for a boring life.

Pixy, I think I'm the opposite. I would need someone to tell me if "so-and-so" likes me, probably because I'm completely clueless to that kind of stuff. Also because its never happened to me.:goofball:

I'm also ready for more excitement in my life.:bouncy::peace::dancingp:

I feel like it's reasonable to expect a guy to be bold and let you know how he feels. Women are a whole different story though. If I demanded every girl confess her feelings to me before I would agree to go on a date with her, I would be one very single dude.

I'm not terribly worried. God will give me guidance. I thought it was a funny story though.
