If you were to draw a map of your heart, what would it look like? Would it look like a valentine heart all filled with happy colours? Would you colour it in all black and draw tears spilling out of it? Would it be a complex network of little shame-filled cubby holes and bursts of fireworks and scars, bandaids, and stitches? Would you draw a shell around it and then wide open spaces that you've never dared fill?

Does your heart look healthy?

What would a heart that is ready for a God-glorifying marriage look like?

How do you change your heart?

@pianogal: Aw... I hope that's a good thing that you thought about it =) I appreciate your vivid description here and resonate with so much of what you've said. What you said about a part of your heart being dry is really true for me too. That's why it hurts so much at times to be single; we sense that part of our hearts that could be vibrant and full of life, but are not. I certainly have at least one tear in my heart, as well. I really loved what you said about the tear being stitched up by God's Word. As far as bruising goes, my heart has those too! Hope that isn't met with the object of our expectation can be so damaging. Reading what you've written here just reminds me all the more how important it is that our true hope be in God, who will never disappoint. "Personally, I think that God gives some people that "dry corner" because he intends for them to get married someday. He'll fill the rest of the heart to overflowing so that the dry corner doesn't get fragile or unhealthy." That is so very true. None of what you've said is corny here, bc. I know you better through all of that you've said and even feel encouraged -- in knowing that I'm not alone and in reading your spiritual insights.

@insideadream: Yes, being sheltered can be a bad thing, but it also has its advantages. I think what's important to work towards is to not over-protect our hearts. We shouldn't purposely seek to damage our hearts, but we must also be open to what God has for us =)

@twosparrows: I'm glad you have joy in your heart! I must admit that joy is missing from mine at times. Your first heart look shriveled up *laughs*
