Premarital counseling...

A. is completely unnecessary w/ a Christian couple.

B. should be done in a few sessions in the months before the wedding.

C. should be started before the couple is engaged, once they are serious and are contemplating marriage.

My opinion: Do it 6 months before the date. And stick with it.

I think perhaps pre-marital counseling is required by the church denomination. I wonder how many states can or have made it a requirement.

Hmm. My posts are being deleted. Guess I have some fans.

Anyways, I'm going with D. Once you get engaged, you've agreed to be wed, so you might as well face the music in counseling.

That would be great if it was mandatory. Maybe then you wouldn't see such a revolving door of marriages and divorces and a bunch of people that don't have a clue that it's something to take seriously or how to do that or what they're really getting into. If you fail to prepare, you're preparing for failure.

It kinda reminds me of this tattoo I toy around with getting where all it says is "Think it through". lol. :Mug:

LOL @ the tattoo

I appreciate everyone's responses. My boyfriend thinks that premarital counseling should be done before getting engaged, to be sure of compatibility and stuff. I, on the other hand, am incredibly squeamish about counseling. However, I do recognize the importance of it and would agree to do it prior to the engagement. I would be VERY selective in choosing a counselor, though!
