Do long distance relationships really work?

I just wondered if there is anything like a long distance relationships. Does it work with christians?. I have heard stories of people being conned on the internet. How sure can we be that all profiles on the dating site are from true christians?

I joined another dating site (not CDFF), got to know a guy, communicated for some time, thought i trusted him enough and gave him my facebook address. The kind of messages i got from him just made me wonder what kind of crazy world we are living in. Has anyone else gone through this?.

Hi Gacheeri,

I do indeed believe that long distance relationship does work, like Lelux24 said, it depends on both partners commitment. i even heard a couple suggested that people should try to have a long distance relationship to test on both sides of commitment and faithfulness. I think long distance relationship needs more effort, trust, faithfulness, communication and respect. If you have passed this kind of test, you sure can do the rest of the storm along marriage. Plus, you will find it sweeter on newly wed since you both did not spend too much time when you were apart of the distance ;) There's always positive and negative side of everything, though you might miss your partner sooooooooo bad but if that is what God wants you and your partner to go through, what can you say? :)

Blessings,

Chris

I know of at least 2 successful relationships that came out of christian dating websites and both were long distance relationships. One couple was from Oklahoma and NY. I had the priviledge of being a part of their wedding last May. My other friend, who recommended and inspired me to join this site, is in a pretty serious relationship with a guy from Colorado and shes from here in Chicago. Like many people said, it takes work but if both are committed then it can definitely work. I was born in the Philippines and thought I would marry and stay there, but God moved my family here in America when I was 10. So, even though I would prefer to have someone just 10 miles away, I can't limit where and how God can bring my future life partner :)

I would like to ask the forum members what they think of deployed members of the military that have long distance relationships? Doe being in the military change any of your previous comments?
