Is it wrong biblically for a woman to get a sperm donor?

Wanted to see other Christian views on this subject and any scriptures to back it up would be welcomed. Know someone who is considering doing this cuz God has placed in her heart to have a baby and since there isn't strong Christian man in her life who is interested in marriage she's considering other options..but refuses to get knocked up because she believes in purity until marriage. She want to please God and doesn't want to do anything to dishonor him. All view points wanted regarding this matter. Gbu:-)

Lady,
I would first like to thank Tarasye for a wonderfuly put explanation. As hard as I can only imagine it to be for your friend -- she must pray for dicernment. Technology will eventually get to the point where man will not need God to create another human. Just choose from a line of cloned sperm -- with the characteristic you want in that child and pick out a nice egg from another line of cloned eggs and Bam!
Money back gauranteed. If the "child" is not "perfect", well then we'll just stop the whole thing -- get rid of the "Defective" unit and Bam! Do it again.
Please, both of you -- Pray and Think. Would you want a child who not only does not have a dad on earth, but has a Father in Heaven who is very displeased to have been taken out of the equation?

Also Lady Thumper, all technology is really NOT from God. God does not need technology to accomplish His purposes, where as satan does. But that is a thread all its own for another day.
Give this some thought though, if she had these feelings a thousand years ago, would she not justify it the same way, only laying with a man for the purpose to conceive believing God would understand that her love for a child was so strong?
Satan does use our desires against us. Please tell your friend not to ignore God's plan for a family, for her way is truly not better, not for her family. Things are way too complicated today to not arm your family with the full armor of protection God has designed for us against a difficult world.
Just because legally we can do things, doesn't mean we should. I hope your friend will reconsider on this.

Friends the only case for sex outside of marriage I have seen that god has approved of if your brother died you are to lie with his wife and have children. In the old testament.Does this apply for today? If your brother can not have children?Any thoughts.
This is a family issue.A new twist.Do you ladies think it would be ok to carry a child for your sister if she was barren?Using a sprem donar,as in brother in law? Food for thought.:prayingf:
Think about this.I read some of your replies and did not answer right away.
How does this change things?
I agree with sperm donor inside family if a family member can not have children.Feel free to disagree.

I appreciate all the advice and eveyone pouring their hearts out and not sugar coating things that's what real Christianity is all about. U are very strong Christian brother and sisters and that's why Im on this site.
I will say this that all technology whether bad or good is from God. God created the brain that thought up the technology. Just like he created Lucifer and The Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden....God does create bad things and even bad technologies. We have to look at things from all sides. We have to use discernment to know what technologies God gave us is Good or Bad. Sometimes you can use the same technology for both good and bad. You can use a gun to kill an animal to feed ur family with or you can use the gun to murder someone. Didnt mean to get all philosophical on u like that maybe I did...heehee.:-)
God Bless all you good people and pray that all ur prayers are answered soon.:-)

If I were a kid I would much rather prefer to have an anonymous dad who never knew me as opposed to a dad that's biological, who knows me and who rejects me time after time by hanging at the bar with his buddies or being with his one nite stands. U can't be rejected by someone who never knew u to reject you. I believe that's what causes most of our kids in society their problems is when their father blatantly rejects them and this happens in married couples just as much as singles who are divorced, widowed or knocked up.
My friend is going to give her potential baby the best of both worlds a loving father that she's going to be given cuz she's only going to marry the man God has saved for her. Also she's giving the baby herself a loving mother who was willing to go beyond to have this baby out of love and sacrifice. My friend has been praying on this and will do the procedure and if it's God's will she will get pregnant and if not she won't. She's only going to try the procedure once.

Sounds to me like your "friend" already has her mind made up even before reading the posts, which is sad. Sounds like unsolicited advice, for your "friend" is not interested enough to ask for herself.
I hope her child does not grow up to marry a sibling. Some things in this world are NOT love enough to overcome heartache, and making that decision as to what "heartache" is acceptable for them, well, do we really have that right? Will that love be enough if this child hates you for making those crucial decisions for them? It is possible you know, for not one of us can know just what heartaches will come with this decision, or how they will feel about them. Lots of kids out there are beginning to come of age wanting rights to anonymous sperm donor fathers because of that hole in their heart and they DO want to know about siblings, because they do have concerns about falling in love and marrying an unknown sibling. That may sound far fetched, but it has actually happened already. Why is your "friend" so opposed to adoption anyway, does she really believe such child would not really be "hers". Steven Curtis Chapman would probably disagree. Have you heard his song "Cinderella" ? He performed that at his daughter's wedding, but it was written for her sister that died tragically in an accident when a family member accidentally backed over her with the family car. Do you think they would have mourned less had she not been adopted? I don't think they could possibly have been more upset had she been their biological daughter.
Playing God does have consequences sometimes.
And off hand, I cannot think of any good use for a nuclear warhead. I don't think it would make a good plant stand or anything, and while things like the internet and television are wonderful evangelistic tools, I think there is far more damage done by both especially in the areas of pornography and exploitation. Not every thought behind such things are God's idea of progress.
on the other deal, dg, I have no idea what to say.... I would suggest consulting the clergy over both families before proceeding, for I have NO idea.

Dear Lady,
If you think you and God are partners in this world then sure, as partners you should have a say in the running of things, in the creation of a child it would only seem fair.
The thing is...you are not partners with God. You don't create a baby it is the miracle from God that a child grows from an egg and a sperm. You only procreate. God wants you to share in the process with Him and the father of the child together.
I don't believe God creates technology. I don't believe God places an idea in a man's or a woman's brain it has to do with free-will.
I do believe God Blesses the technology that does good for society and obeys His Laws.
Mankind has a way though of taking even the best technology and misusing it.
One more thing to consider. When a man marry s a women with a child, it becomes difficult for that child to have the kind of bond that they would have with their biological father from the onset. This has been known to diminish relationships with Step-Fathers and their Step-Children. It also at times will damage the relationship between wife and husband because the child loves the mother more and is closer to her and there is resentment whenever the father has to discipline that child. Consequently, the father's authority is usurped and pretty much non-existent.
This can and does happen, even with the best of intentions. Pray hard and long...Please

Have you considered the responsibilities of the dad in this equation. God says a man that does not provide for his family / children is worse than an unbelivier (and they all end up on hell). Based upon the word, it does not seem God would want the man to participate, so the woman should not therefore go forward with the proceedure either.
