Thanks silver that was really informative. At first glance I thought that that was quite an exhaustive list of questions. But upon reading your response, I can see that you have a strategy in place, In order to try & ascertain compatability. I thinks it's a great idea as many people are looking, without a clue what it is they're looking for...:-)

Someone who doesn't know anything about computers doesn't know what kind of questions to ask. He doesn't know that the most important thing is the processor speed. (All the other components can be upgraded usually.) Whether the computer has a 1TB SSD or 256GB HDD makes no difference to him, because he doesn't even know what those numbers mean. He doesn't know how much storage space he will need. He can't decide whether he should buy a Windows PC or Apple or Linux. He has no clue about anything. So, it is likewise dangerous to start dating without any idea about what one should ask. There are so many-many things that one should consider before marrying or even dating. It's important to be aware of all the things that are important. And for that, you have to ask the right question.

I used to sell computers. One of the most common questions people ask before buying a used computer is "how old is it"? Lol They don't ask how fast is it? How much memory does it have? What kind of the video card it has? ... They want to know how old it is, which is funny, because age doesn't really tell you much. Of course, if a computer is 30 years old, you shouldn't buy it. But age in computers doesn't reveal a lot. It's kind of like judging someone by their appearance.

It's important to ask the right questions and ask many questions when we're buying something or when we're dating. For one thing, it shows that you're serious. You know there are people who aren't serious about buying something, so they walk around the cars on a car lot, for example. They kick some tires. They don't ask many questions and then they leave. But a serious buyer knows what he needs, and he asks the right questions. For example, Does this car smoke? Has this car ever been in an accident? Does the gas gauge work? Is the odometer showing actual mileage? In every area, there are questions one needs to ask. And if someone is asking the right questions, they know this person is serious.

That's so true, you can tell if someone is serious by the questions they ask. I was recently in contact with a tyre kicker, who asked me all manner of questions but never got round to asking me my name...:-)

Country Ivy, your list of questions is very good. Those are the kind of questions I ask. It takes a lot of time with a new person to work in the questions. Silver - you scare me to death. If you were writing me or talking on the phone and went down a list like that, i would hang up. Again, it takes TIME. if you are not willing to spend time getting to know someone, you really have no right to ask that many pointed question in my opinion.
