You can also get a feel for if the person is a fake. One time when I gave out my phone number to a man in Arizona, when he called, it was actually from Kenya. I blocked his number - pretty sure it wasn't the first time he was blocked. But the emails had good spelling, etc.

Silver I'd be interested to know if you ask the questions outright, or incorporate them into a conversation. Also I'm wondering what you think someone travelling outside their country by themselves tells you about them...:-)
I incorporate the questions into our conversation as much as I can, but I let the other person know that I do have a list of questions. and when they're ready, we can go through them. This is actually just a short list. I have hundreds of questions, but most of them are going to be one way or another depending on these. For example, if you ask "Do you support President Trump?" or something of that nature, and their answer is yes, then you can be pretty sure that they are pro-life, they support freedom of religion and the 2nd Amendment. etc. In other words, I don't have to ask each detail. But just in case, I have a detailed list as well.
"Also I'm wondering what you think someone travelling outside their country by themselves tells you about them..."
It tells me that they love to travel, they are independent, brave, risk takers, and probably self-reliant. They don't worry about getting lost or trying new things. They are not tied to their "sweet home." They like to see new places and meet new people, experience new cultures...
Some of these qualities are good, but overall I feel that I would be incompatible with someone like that. Why? Because I like to stay where I am. I Like to travel, but not alone. If I ever travel alone, it must be to a place where someone a friend or relative is waiting for me at the other end. Traveling alone to another country where no one knows me feels very scary. If I am going to spend money on a vacation, it must be something that I enjoy. And I would definitely not enjoy going to some place alone with no one there to guide me, no one to talk to, no one to ask for help. Some people love this type of excitement, but I would hate it. There are two types of people. Those who love to travel alone and those who don't. And if you love to travel alone, I feel that there are a host of other experiences that you also love that I can't stand. So, this is a pretty important question that would make it to the top 100.
