Hello All,

I would love to know what you are doing to prepare for marriage. Sermons, books or mentor ship?

A great resource for me was the Song of Solomon Tommy Nelson

DeeDee, must say really like your questions!

One of the things that I am preparing is the ability to provide not only emotional stability but material stability.

Thanks for responding Kiwi....I have talked to many married Christians who do nothing more than sit through the once a year 1 week marriage conference at their church. I have also talked to divorced people who wish to remarry but get no information in this area.

DeeDee,

I was co-founder of a social network for men that dealt with husbandry both before and after marriage. It was a painful experience. I literally don't think that there was even one man who was willing to listen. We finally shut it down and determined it would be best to put our energies elsewhere. I think your post touches on a very serious issue.

Emulating a Christ-like character, which we're all supposed to be doing, of course:rocknroll:. Humble, self-less, self-sacrificing, patient, loving, and dependable is my aim, unfortunately, I do not think it's completely and perfectly attainable in this life...maybe someone can overlook those faults like Christ does, which is why it's important for both parties to be following Jesus above all else, but I'm also going to be following Paul for awhile, I need to spare the ladies from my immaturity at this point.

This is a complex question. Since we are the clay and God is the potter who forms every vessle according to His will.

Do we really have any power to change through will power?

For me personally I started out as a christian with much fear. Christianity was a way for me to hide from my fears at first. But where it lead was to legalism and pride.

It wasnt until I had a genuine encounter with Jesus that my life began to sloooooooooowly change.

My encounter was in my relating my rejection with Jesus and His rejection. You see if Jesus was rejected and He was. He being God and the source of love, perfect in all ways.

Then me being rejected lost its sting because I knew I was far from perfect and still am.

You see it was the encounter of genuine love through sacrifice on Jesus part that started me down the path of preperation for marriage.

Now as I find Gods love for my self and God invests in me then I am better eqqiped to invest in another.

I could share more about my story but it really is as we focus on Gods love for us we are filled with His richness and capable to pour our selves in a genuine way others. Especially a husband or wife.

I can attest the intimacy of such relationship is beautiful and I hope all seeking find for their selves. Complete and utter acceptance in God and a spouse.

Praise God for His richness.......

Michael

Hello Michael,

The bible says if any man lacks wisdom let him ask God it also says Iron sharpens iron.

I grew up with parents who had split up and did not see what a Christian marriage looked like. The bible advises me to be submissive but I have no reference for what that looks like. I ask God for wisdom which leads me to bible verses, books, sermons and mentors.

So how do other prepare for Covenant? Would they care to share any resources that really brought home a particular subject? Not sure if I worded this question correctly

Deedee,

I wrote a thread on this. If you can sift through the distractions maybe you could gleem something from my efforts. If you need clarification on anything you are welcome to contact me.

I also wrote a thread on the mans side. It is probally a few pages back also.

The things I write about are being practically lived out in a real relationship. I can not even begin to describe the health these principles bring into a relationship.

God bless,

Michael

And he spake a parable unto them, Can the blind lead the blind? shall they not both fall into the ditch? Luke 6:39

You sir, are a snake oil salesman. A snake oil salesman is someone who sells fraudulent goods or who is a fraud himself. (wikipedia)

You are also a Scriptural deviant. ( a person whose behavior and ideas differ from Biblical standards).

Go peddle your poison somewhere else.

Prov 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death

I might be so but I would rather encourage than consistantly break down as you seem to do.

I trust deedee as a mature woman to decide for her self. Unlike you, you feel comtempt for eveyone here and that you are all their defenders.

What arrogence on your part.

What are you afraid of Truth? What is so threatening about encouraging women to express all their feeling and thoughts and encouraging men to focus on unity with their wives?

What are you threatened by? That you have to repell every encouragement I bring?
