Is entertainment today loaded with subliminal and blasphemous messages that are contrary to Gods Word?

As far as dating, the best recourse might be to meet at a church function or at a coffee house.

I am including a link that explains the Super Bowl performance from a spiritual viewpoint. What do you think?

Yes, definitely. Here in the UK, Christians and church are often portrayed on TV as hypocritical, controlling or just plain wierd. Even the supposedly impartial BBC no longer tries to hide it's contempt of Christianity - if there's a documentary comparing it to another faith or examining historical events then inevitably we'll be cast as the villains.

None of this is surprising of course - as our country walks further away from the light of God, the darkness becomes greater...

Agreed DKJ, and the US seems to be sliding that same direction too...

You can't turn on the tv anymore and not have to suffer through some advertisement for male enhancement pills, drink... but do it responsibly, indulge and satisfy your desires because you deserve it and so much cr_p using sexual undertones to promote their products because we need them.

I used halftime to gas up my kid's rig for the week and made a quick stop to the grocery store so I missed the halftime show... seems I didn't miss anything worth watching anyway hmm?

I used to share season tickets for the raiders and have gone to many games.... I was there for all the home games and the championship games in the season in 2001 they went to the superbowl against tampa bay but did not go to the big game. Also I was not living as a believer at that time, so by reputation and association, you can imagine how i was. It's different for me now and occasionally i will go to a game but rather just see it on tv, the scene tailgating is as I can imagine it was for Lot living near the city Sodom... I've experience what its like to be in a stadium filled with 60,000 people and their team wins is a site to see and so easy to be caught up in the euphoria of it all. I can't help but wonder, if anyone had any recognition of what this halftime show was promoting and if they had known during or even before hand, would it have mattered? But for the grace of God, how easily are we as led astray and fooled...

On a good note... Tim Tebow, by faith, withstood the media and opposition and the gospel message was shared to the world too:glow:

Hope you didn't mind me commenting here Caligirl, I'd be interested in your opinion as well as others on this topic?

I agree with both of your opinions dkj255 and One Sojourner.

I am also so thankful for Tim Tebow! We should remember to pray for Tim as he is in the frontlines.

@ One Sojourner, I dont mind that you share your opinion.

I remember being so convicted one day as I was listening to a radio sermon in my car about a man who gave his whole life to helping the poor and starving in India talking about his experiences, and then comparing that to all the money I'd spend when I got to the stadium. How much of my time, energy, and money goes towards entertainment (which is like nothing, and impermanent, etc) and how little if any goes to advancing Gods kingdom. It was very humbling, like "Oh you got no problem throwing money away at a casino or tipping the hostess at some bar or club well just for sitting there that doesn't really have a good impact on people, but giving in the offering to the One who loves us all so much and gave his life for you and died for our sins and to a good church that does have a good impact on the city is too much?" It was after my second deployment and I was just on this mad bent to chase pleasure and decadence no matter what the price.

I have a much different attitude about things after that wake up call and it really helped me to settle down and realize and remember what is important.

Wow! I followed the link and that's not even remotely subliminal or hidden. I think parts of the videos' explanations were a bit of a reach but on the whole excellent.

In the original vein of the post I say wholeheartedly; YES, entertainment IS loaded with messages disparaging Christ and Christianity. I see this everywhere to the point if you are truly "guarding your eyes" you would have difficulty watching 99% of television or movies. It is next to impossible to exist or walk down the street in today's society without having your moral fiber and beliefs assaulted. Christianity it seems is "Ok" to lampoon and offend. We have a day of reckoning coming. Thanks for sharing this.

STOP PRESS! Today the high court ruled that it is not legal for councils to have prayers as part of their meetings. This was pushed for by the Secular Society on behalf of atheists and agnostics - specifically an atheist councillor working for the council brought before the court.

Yet another victory for evil, and another nail in the coffin of this once great land...

@Ionlydatecheerleaders .. good point.

@ SavedPK .. I agree with your viewpoint.

@ dkj255 .. If Christians tried to push for any particular cause it would be deemed as a hate crime.

@caligirl: apparently muslims persecuting Christians and Jews are not hate crimes, I see such hypocracy in that... a Christian man preaching on the street was attacked by a muslim and the Christian was charged with 'inciting hate'.
