I wish we could copy and paste images to the forum, it would make this jazz so much more fun.

I have a 380 9mm clip (a often used backup weapon especially for woman cops) with a box of bullets given to me by my ex who happens to be a cop.

I appreciated the gift, he cared enough about the kids and my safety to leave something behind since he wouldn't be there.

We all have a right to bear(bare??) arms right?? I got to talkin bout it with some fellow church members and a couple of folks were of the opinion that I shouldn't have a gun, neither should I carry one. They thought it was a direct reflection on my faith and trust in God to protect me.

I was like whaaa??:bunny:

What is yalls take on it??

First I want to say that I understand both side to this and I agree with both. haha.

It is not really a matter of you even having a gun or caring it, but where you put your trust or belief in. God or the gun?

The Bible teaches to use wisdom and my opinion on carrying the gun is that you should make sure that you know proper gun safety before you carry it. If it is not a crutch for your faith and it becomes a dependent instead of God, then I would say not to carry it, but otherwise I think it is ok. If they can say that about a gun then the same goes for mace, tasers, and any other thing that would protect you from people attacking... seems a tad overboard and more on the religious side to me. Yes your trust should be in God 100%, but that does not change the fact that we live in a corrupt world. Two scriptures come to mind by what that person is saying. The one where it talks about focusing on the log in your eye before they worry about your spec and the other where Jesus stands in front of the crowd to tell them that that first one without sin should cast the first stone.

It seems that they are to busy focusing on what's going on in your life to realize that they are just pointing fingers.

The whole not carrying a God because you should trust in God to protect you is like saying you shouldn't go to the hospital when you are sick because you are trusting in God to heal you.

God is the great physician and he gave us medicine to heal. God gave us the earth, told us to have domination over it, and gave us the means to do it.

The tools are neutral, it is how you use them that matters!

In the Old Testament God watched over the nation of Israel and protected them from their enemies. I recall Israel picking up the sword A LOT and giving God the glory for the victory.

If every law abiding citizen had a gun and knew how to use it then crime would dramatically decrease. Guns don't kill people, criminals use guns to kill law abiding citizens with no means of self-defense.

There is a reason why the founding fathers gave us the 2nd Amendment! You probably don't even need a gun, just put a "I Love the 2nd Amendment" or "NRA" sign on your lawn and the criminals will avoid your house like the plague.

If someone breaks into my home and threatens the lives of me or my family my automatic 12 gauge or my handgun will be waiting for them. ;)

Well said, IaoKim.

We had a cop killer on the loose for several days a couple weeks ago. It took the police a few days to find him...in a house just a few miles from my neighborhood. They knew he was in the area, but didn't know exactly where. I know that I was VERY grateful that I had access to a gun!

Whether and when you should defend yourself is up to interpretation, but the Bible seems pretty clear that you are supposed to defend the defenseless. If I'm out with a girl and a guy pulls up with a van, tries to mug us, and wants her to get in the van, you better bet I'm not letting that happen. Atlanta is one of the top cities in the world for sex trafficking. Whether it's a gun or a knife or a rock, I'm using whatever I've got to protect her.
