I have a sad Valentine's legacy going on..

When I was dating my ex in college, for our first Valentine's Day (we had started dating the year before in March), I had a cake maker friend help me make a heart shaped cake with writing on it, a huge $10 balloon and a single red rose. When presented to him, he looked embarassed and (men can be soooo stu pid!!) actually said "why did you do this for me? I'm the man!" :MrT::boxing::dunce::toomuch:  It was always a source of contention even throughout our marriage, we couldn't ever seem to have a good V-Day, we couldn't get it together. Christmas and birthdays were great but V-Day was a no go.

Okay, so since I've been divorced (4 years in November), I have dated a few guys, only one seriously.

BUT I'M NEVER WITH THEM ON VALENTINE'S DAY!! What is that??????

Okay, so the question is; What is your favorite Valentine Day date, or ex-husband/wife getaway or gift given to you? I need to live vicariously through yall!

Awww, BabyGirl! You are too doggone sweet to have that gracious gesture of love shot down. Men can be stupid and prideful.

I actually wrote an article on List My 5 site about how to deal with being single on Valentine's Day. Not to promote me, but it has some nice ideas in it and I don't want to copy and paste the thing here. You can find it on that site and do a search for "jseven."

I feel ya as I am a lovebug that always had a lot of expression and PDA for my man. My first husband was quite a bot of a redneck and didn't get it, either.

But my second husband (now deceased) was a romantic Mexican who reminded me a lot of Lucy's husband, Desi Arnaz. We got told all the time that we were "Lucy and Ricky." We even played their theme song at the end of our outdoor wedding. :)

He was very artistic and romantic and expressed himself well on all holidays as well as Valentine's Day. He took a picture of me and cut it into the shape of a heart, wrote tender things on the back of it, took me out to dinner and lit candles at home afterward for slow dancing, while he sang the song to me in Spanish.

I guess I can't say that he lit candles and we slow danced, too? If this comes through, then it must have been a word you can't use. ??

Oh, it did? Must have been his kisses on my arm and looking into my eyes with tears of his love for me.

Babygirl, may I sit next to you so we can watch the show together? I wanna live vicariously too! Haha! :hearts:

I went to New Orleans after Katrina to try to help out. I was with my bf at the time and it was an awesome experience (awesome being both good and bad, as in awe struck). Anyway, we were leaving Nawlins. As we were loading our vehicles, he started rearranging his stuff in his and my stuff in mine. Long story short, he dumped me in N.O. on Valentine's Day....yuk.

One of these days we'll both have wonderful V-day stories to tell, Babygirl! :dancingp::peace::yay::applause:

Until then, I'll bring the popcorn!! :excited:

BabyGirl,

I'm just like Joey's Desi----- so get out the heart-shaped cake, the huge balloon, and a dozen red roses (cause I'm probably better lookin than your ex) and if I can make it to Indiana we'll go dancing. If I don't make it, there's always next year.

the romantic chevy:hearts:

My sister's in New Orleans now, T.

Maybe we'll go there babygirl and we can go on a horse and carriage ride.

Or I can just borrow a horse from ts and hook it to my nephew's wagon!
