Have you every had piercing, tattoos done and now wish you didn`t? Would you date someone that has? Diidn`t Jesus take the ultimate tattoo and piercing for us? Post Reply

Our bodies are temples of God and should not be marred. We should take care of our bodies as we would an actual temple and/or church we attend. We do not mark or mar them. Post Reply

Posted : 5 Jan, 2011 07:18 PM I have a tattoo (Celtic knot around my ankle), my ears are pierced twice and I had my nose pierced (just a sparkly stud, not a ring). Though I did take out the eyebrow piercing once I "grew up" (last year), I plan on getting another tattoo (my favorite Bible verse, in Hebrew, around my other ankle) and will re-pierce my nose once I no longer am plagued by allergies. So: Yes, I have tattoos and piercings and No, I don't regret them. :laugh: Post Reply

Like everything, moderation is a key. Yes, we are temples of the Holy Spirit. Temples have paint, and gildings and base boards and crown molding and light fixtures ----- in oher words: decorations. Additions to add to and enhance its beauty. Pierciings and tattoos can be that for our bodies. In moderation. Just my opinion. Post Reply

Best thing I ever did cosmetically other than learning to tastefully apply a little makeup. Earrings are so much fun to play with fashion-wise, and they really polish and pull together a nice professional look. I don't want any other piercings, though. As for tattoos, I'm not a fan. I'd not really want to date a guy who is pierced. That includes a guy who has his ear(s) pierced. It is one of those feminine traits that is a major turn-off for me. Tattoos I can stand in moderation. If a guy got a lot of tattoos before he came to Christ, I wouldn't hold it against him, especially since there's nothing he can easily do about it. I wouldn't expect him to try to have them removed! Post Reply

Also have tattoo along my eyebrows that it only takes seconds to put powder over it, little lipstick and baby powder, and am heading for work. A number of friends never noticed the tattoo until I told them, so I guess it is not noticeable it is there. I don�t regret I have the piercing and the tattoo that enhanced my appearance. Post Reply

And yes, I know we aren't "under the law" . God however, says He doesn't change, so obviously if it was wrong then, it is wrong now. Outside of that scripture, I would just say that it is a fad (albiet more permanent than most!) and therefore, for me, it is just one more way to look like the 'world', which I am not to do. I am to "obstain from all appearance of evil". Here again, He didn't say from doing evil, but from the appearance of it. I just wanna look more Christ like ... somehow I just can't imagine seeing a bunch of tatooed body parts and thinkin, 'hey, they must be a Christian', can you? Post Reply

I've known several of my friends to get tatoos of a cross, the fish symbol, or a particularly meaningful verse on them somewhere. I myself would never get piercings and would likely wouldn't get a tatoo. I have to ask something since it was brought up. The whole of Lev. 19:28 from the NIV says: "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD." That being the case, is the law not to get tatoos in general or does this refer to the practice of cutting and permanently marking one's self in mourning for the dead as is common practice in some places of the world?
