She tried a great many things in her lifetime. She taught me to do the same. Even if I end up not liking it, or if I end up not being good at it -- at least I tried. And learning and trying new things is FUN! Post Reply

As a child, I hated the pecans and crust on pecan pie. Momma would pick them off and let me eat the middle of her piece so I could have some. We didn't have a lot of money when I was growing up. So momma would buy inexpensive sheets and make us girls dresses and the boys shirts. Then she would spend hours in the evenings crocheting lace trims and embroidering the most beautiful decorations. She would stitch for hours to give us nice things. Rather than tell us we were poor and so would have to do without, she would give us her time and talents. I learned that money is not what matters. It is the investment of time, love, attention, and caring that really matters in this world. Also, I learned that hard work can be fun if you do it with those you love. After God, family is what really matters. Post Reply

She taught me how He is always there for us and sees us through. I remember learning to pray at a very young age. She also taught me to believe in myself and to never give up!! My mom was a very good example. She showed me by her example how to love others and care about them. She also taught me to respect my elders and to help them. THere are so many things she taught me and I'm grateful for every one of them! Post Reply

She had many problems and made our child-hood a difficult time; but I've forgiven her and have found Peace through Christ. Deborah Post Reply

She and my dad, though they were opposites in so many ways, were very devoted to each other and really cared for each other as man and wife. She put him first, even when it meant a sacrifice for herself. Post Reply
