Posted : 20 Dec, 2010 05:56 PM To have a guy have the engagement ring already chosen and bought special for you and give it to you as part of his proposal of marriage ... or for the two of you to go out together after his propasal of marriage to a jewelry store and pick out the rings you both like for engagement and wedding rings? Or maybe you would like to look in the jewelry ad sections of store brocures with him and tell him which rings you like in these, then have him go and buy and bring back for you the ones he chose from your selection of choices and re-propose and put it on your finger. Which of these is more romantic and BAREFOOT SPECIAL to YOUR heart? Love, Steve Post Reply

If I had to go with him to pick it out, I would probably end up picking out something cheap (because I just hate to ask people to spend money on me) rather than something we both really liked. However, if he just surprises me with a ring, he can pick out something within his budget that he thinks I'll like. The fact that he actually chose something for me will also make it that much more special! Of course, there is always the risk that he will have MUCH different tastes in engagement rings...that's why my mom and both sisters know exactly what style of ring I want! And they have orders to pull aside my boyfriend when he's obviously getting that serious, and tell him what sort of ring he should be looking at. I'm fairly easy to please, though. I want a diamond solitaire, no larger than 1/2 carat, in yellow gold. I'm not picky about cut, color, clarity, quality, etc. Just as long as it sparkles. I did try on a $38,000 diamond ring the other day that was pretty nice, though... Post Reply

If he asks with a diamond, then I will know that he either doesn't know me very well or doesn't care about my preferences. Either way, there is a problem. I love bright colors and although diamonds have flash and sparkle, they are nothing to a fire opal. Rubies, emeralds, and sapphires are pretty too. So....it is up to him....surprise me. Post Reply
