Happy Thanksgiving Day! = Happy Givingthanks Day! = A Day to Happily Give Thanks.

Don't you think we would much better off celebrating this Everyday?

and

What other holiday would we all be better off for celebrating Everyday?

(I can think of two more indirectly mentioned in scripture)

My Dad is a wonderful Christian, but he doesn't really get into holidays because he doesn't understand why special days are needed to be thankful, to celebrate the birth or resurrection of Christ because he always says these are things we should do everyday.

He's no scrooge, he just doesn't go overboard with the holidays because he lives quietly acknowledging these things all the time.

The point of a holiday is not that that's the only day we should celebrate whatever it's about, but to say that we find it so important that we should set aside a day to make sure we are reminded of how important it is.

I don't think that the point of the holiday is that we only give thanks on this one day... but rather to give us a chance to take a moment away from the grind of everyday life to gather with friends and/or family and feast and enjoy the company of said friends and family that under normal conditions you would not be able to enjoy.

It's a way to focus more intently on what we truly cherish. Or in many cases, REfocus ourselves on the things in life that truly matter that often time we lose sight of in the mundane repetitions of normal everyday life.

thats my two cents anyway...

Yes, we should give thanks everyday. I agree on that. But sometimes we need a reminder and when we caught up in the busy life.. Holiday is good, to remind us for taking a break.

One of my friends has a five-year-old who announced to everyone today: Happy Godsgiving!

Not really on-topic, but I found it delightful and wanted to share.

We all have all kinds of things to be thankful for and to praise God for every day ... when we take time to reflect on our lives and God's presence in our lives and control over all of life ... Thanksgiving as a specially-designated day to do so gives us an opportunity to do this with family and friends in a more focused way!!! :yay::yay::yay::applause::applause::applause:

I'm still BLOWN AWAY every day to be aware and remember about the scientic truth I found out and shared in a past post that God even created our bodies in such a way as to reveal Himself to us by designing the "glue", scientically named "laminin", which holds every cell in our bodies together to be in the shape of a cross when we view its shape under a miscroscope!!! When you remember THAT too, how can you not rejoice in your heart and be comforted in all sorrows, disappointments and problems you're dealing with in your life ... and to be reassured of God's agape love and care for you and His heart's desire for THE BAREFOOT BEST for you from DAY ONE of His Creation of all mankind!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! Barefoot WOW!!! ... and THEN some!!! shouts my heart and spirit!!! :yay::yay::yay::hearts::hearts::hearts:

Some where this tread turned south. I am not posting about being a holiday scrouge. To explain,

THANKSGIVING:How much better to you think your life would be if you carried your thankfulness into everyday of your life.

EASTER: How much better would your life be if everyday you consciously remembered Jesus died and rose for you.

NEW YEARS: How much better our lives would be if we remembered His Grace and compassion are new every morning.

Ok, people keep moving there is nothing to see here. This thread just ran off the road and crashed., keep moving...*waving hand*

OK, Chuck ... I'lll keep movin' down that thanksgiving road ... but before I do ... just wanted to correct my typos on the "roadside": I meant to type "scientific" up above, not "scien-TIC"!!! (ha ha) :goofball::laugh:
