Do you have any pets? If so, do you view them as part of your family members?Posted : 23 Nov, 2010 05:04 AMYes, I have had a black lab since he was about 6 weeks old. I brought him home and he fit in my one hand. He was the runt that no one wanted. My daughter was 4 and she wanted him and my son was 1 year old. My dog is now 15. He is having problems with his legs due to arthritis. I love him just like family. It's so hard trying to know what to do. Do I put him down or what. He seems happy most of the time but then it's hard for him to get up sometimes. I can't imagine my life without him? So, I know how you both feel. Yes, we can love our pets soooo much and God has given them to us to encourage us and bless our lives!!! |

Do you have any pets? If so, do you view them as part of your family members?Posted : 23 Nov, 2010 06:30 AMMy family has 4 dogs, 5 cats, and a couple dozen chickens (laying hens). All of the animals (except for one dog and one cat) live outside, but they are definitely cherished pets. Even the chickens are fairly friendly! If you go into the chicken coop and squat down, you are almost guaranteed to have at least 2-3 chickens either perched on your knees or sitting on your shoulders, and the others will be vying for their turns. |

Do you have any pets? If so, do you view them as part of your family members?Posted : 23 Nov, 2010 03:51 PMTwo cats, one about 16-17 and the other about 1-2. Both rescued, both spoiled. I enjoy their company and wouldn't want to part with them, but I don't really count them as family. Just very good friends. |

Do you have any pets? If so, do you view them as part of your family members?Posted : 23 Nov, 2010 07:01 PMI'm trying to do the pet thing - my kids want a dog. We picked up a stray, figuring we were helping the world out by taking in the stray. Part beagle. Digs out of everything (has dug outta the fenced yard more times that I can count). Tears up everything or drags it into the yard. *sigh* I bailed her out of the pound just yesterday. Then I come home today and she wasn't home when I got home from work again today. Pound can keep her this time. |

Do you have any pets? If so, do you view them as part of your family members?Posted : 23 Nov, 2010 07:28 PMIt's not just beagles that dig...two of our dogs are terrier mixes, and they dig out of everything...or if they can't dig out of it, they go through it. One of them chewed through a chain link fence, and wood is no obstacle at all. Fortunately, we live out in the country and the county Animal Control is pretty much useless (one person for the entire county), so if the dogs get out it's not a big deal. |
