Should guys give you flowers on a first date?

Just curious what the "in" thing is these days. I haven't been in the dating world that much. Is it expected that a guy bring you flowers on a first date, or is that mainly just an old fashion custom? I've heard various opinions. I think it's really sweet and romantic if they do cuz it shows that they set aside time to think of you and are thankful that you said "yes" to going on a date with them, but I don't expect it. Just curious what your opinions are. I posed this question to ladies, but gents, please feel free to answer to. Thanks :)

Also, I forgot to mention this before, do guys expect you to bring them a gift of some sort on a first date? I imagine both are kind of old fashion customs, but just wondering what your insights and opinions are. Thanks again :)

I'm not much of a flower person... they die pretty fast once I've gotten them. It doesn't bother me much if I get flowers or not, I would just be content to go on a date!

I prefer to bring something that is significant to her. If she likes Precious Moments figurines, then that's appropriate. Nothing that inhibits the expression of the relationship that's been nurtured up to that point.

Hey, a homemade compilation of her favorite songs. But whatever it is, it needs to come from the heart. :prayingm:

I loooovvvee flowers. So for me a big yes. As a first impression on a first date, I think its an old fashioned, nice gesture.

I think a guy should bring me flowers everyday of every week of every year. Oh, did you say something about a date?

Actually, I don't expect anything. Gifts are not my love language. I just love flowers. That is why all 4 sides of my house are covered with them.

I would be genuinely touched to be presented with flowers (or another sort of gift) on a first date. But, I would not have a bad impression of a guy if he did not bring me flowers. Gifts aren't my love language, but they are icing on the cake =) Live plants are nice too! Especially little baby trees!

You're just getting to know each other on the first date, so there's no reason for either person to invest much money in the date at all. That's why coffee makes such a great one. If I really like a girl, by like the third or fourth date, I'll buy her a single rose, but dozens of roses are reserved for big anniversaries, etc.

You give gifts to people you care about, not some girl you just met three days ago through a friend.

Oh - and your question about whether a girl should give a guy flowers? I've done that a couple of times (not a on a first date) and it has kinda freaked the guy out. They were at a total loss as to how to handle getting flowers from me. So it kind of backfired. Someone else might have had a different experience.
