s.o.s. needs advise: is "tomboy" an apropriate termPosted : 6 Jul, 2010 08:34 PMHmm...interesting question. I personally don't think that "tomboy" is offensive. But then again, I live in an area where the 4th of July parade included ATVs, septic tank trucks, motorcycles, and horses...among all the church floats, pest control companies' trucks, hotrod cars, and of course the confederate soldiers. Can you say "redneck"? lol  |

s.o.s. needs advise: is "tomboy" an apropriate termPosted : 6 Jul, 2010 08:40 PMTomboy is usually used to refer to young girls who are tough and like stereotypical boy activities. I can not think of another appropriate word. The good news is that women who are tomboys, know that they are and usually wear the title proudly. |

s.o.s. needs advise: is "tomboy" an apropriate termPosted : 7 Jul, 2010 06:37 AMI'm not a young lady, but the term "tomboy" is immediately recognizable to me and I don't find it offensive. Been one my whole life, so there is nothing offensive about it! lol Perhaps the younger ladies may have a different perspective. |
