It is said that humans originally consisted of four arms, four legs, and a single head made of two faces, but Zeus feared their power and split them all in half, condemning them to spend their lives searching for the other half to complete them.

I don't believe in soul mates, but I do believe that God is sovereign and that He orchestrates relationships.

I'm not sure. I used to, but when my marriage didn't work out I think I gave up on the idea, it's like a fairytale. When you are younger it seems true, when you are older you wish it were true, but you know better.

I don't believe we have one soulmate and if we don't find him/her than all is doomed.

The Word says to acknowledge Him in all our ways and He will direct our path. We also are lead by the Holy Spirit. So, with those 2 principles in place and at work in your life, I believe God will bless us with the person that compliments us personally and spiritually. Since God reads hearts and all I can do is hope and look at the outside, I told God I would let Him guide and lead the way in this area.

Also, with our free will, we can choose on our own. I did that when I was younger. I don't recommend it. Do I have a witness? :dancingp:

example only, Isaac and Rebecca were soul mates.:hearts:

Not everybody has a mate that is picked out by god. If the person isgoing to do something great God will have a soul mate that is a helper.

Mary and Joseph were soul mates.

Not soul mates- David and Bethsheba

Zesus..... ru kidding.

dg....if God dont pick them then who does? It sounds like u think only ppl who do something great deserves a mate picked by God.

I may never do anything GREAT but my Jesus loves me and He wants the best for me so to me that means He will pick the one for me. He is that big of a Great God.

I believe that God has prepared me for my future mate and him for me. If God knows the plans He has for me (Jer 29:11) they surely include what husband I am to have and what wife he is to have.

Some very good points in this thread, definatly food for thought.

I do agree we need to be prepared, otherwise we will cause the other to suffer, and they must give us grace. I believe that I myself am ready to love a woman like Christ loves His church.

I think the idea of soul mates is a non-Christian idea. As Christians we are not to be soulish people. Our soul is the mind of the flesh, isn't it? However the idea that God makes our decisions for us is also a non-Biblical concept.

Pro 15:21 Foolishness is joy to him who lacks understanding, but a man of understanding directs his going.

Deu 17:10 And you shall do according to the word which they declare to you from that place which Jehovah shall choose. And you shall be careful to do according to all that they direct you.

2Th 3:5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ.

If we have the wisdom we find in the Scriptures in our minds and we are using the wisdom we have learned there we will make wise decisions. God leaves decision making to us and He expects us to use the wisdom and understanding He has given us to make these decisions. It is the same way that parents are to prepare their children for adulthood. If we have taught them well they will know how to make wise and intelligent decisions in their lives.
